DaBoomVape fatherly advice:
Two very important issues right upfront:
1. No need to apologize for being new to vaping! Every member of ECF was new to vaping at some point, most of us in this calendar year, some (including yours truly) even more recently. And that is precisely what ECF (and especially this ATE forum) is all about: to hold each others' hand as we grope through the mass of information and choices in this exciting new alternative to cancer sticks.
2. There are no 'shoulds' (short of not chugging a bottle of 60mg e-liquid8-o)! [I happen to believe that about life in general.] And certainly in the realm of vaping. There are some procedures that some of us have found to be more or less effective than others. But take everything you read here and on manufacturer and supplier websites with at least one grain of salt ... and tweak it with your personal preferences.
Now to your questions:
For a brief (by my standards) but thorough (by anyone's standards) treatment of "what to do to [the 510] so it can reach it's full potential...[and] what [to] do before I actually take my first puff," I refer you to Kristin's
Everything You Ever Wanted to Know About Your 510 stickied at the top of the Joye 510 Model Specific Discussion forum. [While you're there (and many times thereafter), browse through the entire forum.]
In the first "Getting Started" section, she addresses the very issues you raise. For example, it probably is a good idea to charge your batteries for a minimum of 4 hours, regardless of the green light ... but nothing terrible will happen if you cheat a bit in eager anticipation.
Similarly, if you can't stand the taste of the primer on the atomizer, she provides good advice for getting rid of it quickly. I usually don't bother, since I don't think it tastes that bad. [Remember my second word of advice.]
For a much
longer treatment (this time with illustrations) of some of the same issues, check out
Part 3 of the 510 Guide referenced in my signature. I can recommend it without conceit since it is filled primarily with the words (e.g., Kristin's), photos, and videos of others. You'll even see how to remove the bubble wrap and open the teeny tiny box without shock. [Caveat: That guide was commissioned by and promotes one particular supplier. However, very little of Part 3 has anything to do with that supplier and, in fact, all of the people in the videos mention
other suppliers.]
As for
ECOpure, it is known primarily for the attribute captured in its name:
purity. Manufactured entirely in the U.K. (rather than China, for example), a key aspect is that it contains no PG (propylene glycol), to which
some people are alergic. You probably learned of it via Cignot, one of the few U.S. suppliers of ECOpure. Compared to most other e-liquid, it is rather expensive. Flavor choices are limited. My advice:
try some, along with
other e-liquid (e.g., Cignot's "Other VG" and "Other PG") ... and see what
you think.
And don't stop there; Cignot is
one of the scores of excellent e-liquid suppliers offering
hundreds (thousands?) of different flavors, unique combinations of ingredients, and nicotine levels. See
Parts 3 and
5 of that other guide in my signature for an introduction to some of the options available.
Oh ... I just thought of the only 'should' in vaping, Jreyes:
Enjoy!
