Started when I dropped it on concrete and chipped paint off the base. Then it wore through on the sharp edges. Then tiny bubbles appeared under the paint. Lately I just pick at it with my thumbnail while I vape.

I think once the rest of paint is gone I might try polishing the metal. Not sure what metal it is. soft like aluminium judging by the scrapes from when I dropped it, but with a greyish color like zinc.

Does anyone do wraps for this mod?

I love it anyway. It hit the concrete from chest height and didn't miss a beat. Thinking of getting another one, or maybe a Sandstorm version. I like the sand color but I don't have any wider tanks.
If it were I, I wouldn't hurry to cover the Jac. Get rid of the rest of the black coating and see. It might look very sexy in a matte metallic finish.

Cheers.

That is good timing. Must be a sign that the universe wants me to get a skin for the Jac. I'll post a pic here when I get it together. Thinking about red.

Not having used a skin before, should I take the rest of the paint off to level the surface, or will the skin cover it up?

And twere it me, I'd put that wrap right on it, mick. I think the Vapor Skinz would cover it perfectly. You can always (down the line) remove the wrap and try to shine that baby to its original metal glory.

But 35%? It's time, kiddo. ;)

Here are two of mine:

Had the JAC series B couple of weeks now, So time for a Temp control build, I know I'm in the best place here to ask as I've never used T/C before, My fav coil build for 0.5ohm 3 lengths of 30g S/Steel plaited with slight spacing giving me 5wraps on 2.5mm ID, Would this build be ok, T/C newbie here:)

Thanks. Does it cover the sloping area at the top?

Never put a skin on a mod before. Wondering whether I should get 2 in case of screw-ups.

Generally, I buy two. There is a cover for the slope on top. It is a little tricky, I took everything off the Jac and used a hair drier to soften everything up making it easier to "mold to shape".

Maximum output is 6.2 volts for a DNA75, figure that your 0.5 ohm coil will be around 0.6 when hot.
You should be able to get 60-65 watts.

Spaced coils for TC definitely

For best chance at reliable TC with SS316, building at 0.5/+ is recommended for starters, you can always try lower later on (if indeed you even want to), depending on the tank and build it may work well, it may not, but 0.5/+ always will. This is due to the low measurable TCR of SS316L. Ive never tried it with twisted though. Ive always used simple single wire builds - 7/8 wraps of 26GA SS316 on 3mm ID for 0.6ish for a few years now.

Try different stuff based on what you're hearing and what you prefer. Mine is..

26ga SS (316L), 2.0 mm dia., 7ish wraps (spaced), .5 ohms, 430 degrees, koh gen do wick

Here's the Jac after I spent 20 mins removing the rest of the paint with my thumbnail. One side I polished with brasso and 4O wool. The other side is unpolished. It starts out grey and blotchy, the patches where the paint has been off for a while were a different color. After polishing a bit it got shiny.

You can still see the machining marks running horizontally across the polished side but they are coming out. I suspect the shiney side will tarnish back to grey after a while. And I'm a bit nervous about polishing the front with the buttons and USB and screen. Don't want to get polish or scraps of wool getting in where they don't belong. I might try the Dremel with a polishing brush.

I got a wrap anyway while the sale is on. I'll see how the bare metal ends up looking before I wrap it.

Oh I forgot to update on my black JAC. 2 weeks of daily use, usually in the pocket with car keys or card lanyards. No scratches whatsoever so the finish seems to be holding up very well. Also the magnets have not popped out, you can tell they shaved the sides and used more glue.

Also I've dropped one of my Sandstorms on hardwood floor, got a small ding and the 510 receptacle got nudged upward a tiny bit so the tanks now have a very slight gap.

It's all personal esthetic preference, and ergonomics.
How does it feel stripped bare? Not good, then cover it up.
How does it look? Not good, then cover it up.
Damn, I cover myself up for both reasons. LOL. Not.
I'm reminded of a black Provari which someone (speak up now, whoever you were) then sanded down so that the body was metallic but the incised tear drops remained black. What a beauty.

I like minimalism esthetically. But, I can see how others might like the glitztier. It's all good.

Hmm, don't we know someone who likes glitztier? :D

They'd be one and the same ("Kitty & Spot"). ;)
