Give jac a shout. I know it's probably well out of warranty but they'd appreciate the feedback as they have acted to improve every issue we've brought to their attention so far.Just spent the day tinkering with my old original Jac. I had numerous problems last year with it reading the resistance erratically. I took it apart and poked around trying to figure out what was wrong. When I put it back together it wasn't sending power to the 510 at all and I threw it in the box a few months ago.
Today I took it apart again and touched the solder where the positive wire attached to the 510 pin with an iron until it started to soften. At that point I was getting power to the 510 again, but it still wouldn't register a tank. Eventually figured out there was no electrical connection at all between the body of the 510 and the top plate of the mod. I'm guessing the 510 is loose and corrosion built up between it and the tank top. Maybe something to do with 2 different metals in contact, SS and zinc. Still can't see how the connectivity is lost completely though.
I put a skinny copper washer between the tank and the top of the mod so the base of the tank is electrically connected to the top plate of the mod. Now it works fine. The resistance reading is solid and accurate.
I've had endless problem with that mod. Paint came off. TC stopped working. It read the resistance higher and higher. Eventually it stopped sending power to the 510 altogether. But for some reason I still like it and I'm glad to have it back. Since the resistance reading is stable I might even try TC again. I gave up on that but I have bunch of SS coils I made in a box somewhere.
Think you made a wise choice.Just placed an order for a Sandstorm 23mm Series B to go with the 22mm I bought nearly 2 years ago. Price incl shipping to US is $64.97. They are on backorder with a mid April target date.
I really wanted a DNA75C but truthfully the prices on these Series B's are just too good by comparison. And already having a DNA75 it's not like I have a learning curve to deal with and I tend to set it and forget it anyway. So while I really want a 75C I can't justify then additional expense just to get my jollies off for an afternoon looking at a color screen. Maybe Xmas I'll get a 75C. These JAC Series-B's are fantastic mods. Love the temp control on the DNAs.
I used their discount code WB20-VYU-WXO that gave me a 20% discount from the listed price. The code is good thru 3/31.
Yeah, I think so. I pretty much had my mind made up and was going to get a 75C. But then I had this fleeting moment of objectivity and said no, the price difference simply is more than I can live with. If I sat around and played with the thing all the time it would be different. But I'm way past those days. The 75 does the same thing as the 75C for what I need it for. Set it once and I'm done. I might go a year without touching the menu. The 75C is nothing but a toy and not worth doling out another $75 or whatever.Think you made a wise choice.
I do like the 75c but it's a little disappointing in the battery life dept with a single 18650.
I like my 75C's. But I do sit around and play with it....all day long. Replay at my age is a godsend.Yeah, I think so. I pretty much had my mind made up and was going to get a 75C. There you have it. If I thought I was gonna play around with it all the time I woulddn't think twice about getting the C either. But I know I wont. The first afternoon I get it yes. But after that, no. And I can definitely see where replay is a great feature in helping people figure out where their sweet spot is. It's a great little chip for the right person. No two ways about it.I like my 75C's. But I do sit around and play with it....all day long. Replay at my age is a godsend.

it was the end of my desire for color.
I remember us getting a color television in 19-sixty-or-seventy-something. THAT was cool.
I'm okay not having it on my mods. I still have a color TV though.![]()
Fiddling in power mode on the DNA75 is fairly simple. You go to the temp control side and it gets a lot more challenging for people whose memories aren't as sharp as they once were. Thankfully my days of monkeying around with vape gear are largely over so I am in "set and forget" modus operandi myself.Color has a large power overhead and she really likes the JAC 75 and the Radius. She vapes around 11-12 Watts, no TC.
I remember getting our first color TV (till that time we had an old B/W Philco Ford). It was 1973. My Dad worked as an engineer at Zenith so he got a new TV every year. They wanted their engineers to watch their TVs so they could look at it and think of new ideas. So I come home from school one day and there it is. Oddly, I wasn't as impressed with the color screen as much as I was with the other features...specifically that it had UHF. For us old farts who remember, UHF was another source frequency and added a few more channels we could watch (like from 5 to 8). Didn't have UHF on the old Philco Ford. Well, I was a Chicago kid and loved baseball. Prior, it was the Cubs and only the Cubs because I got them on the Philco Ford. Even as a kid they broke my heart. They'd be in first place every year until the last month of the season before tanking. Once I saw the new color TV had UHF I knew my days as a perennially depressed Cub fan were over cuz the White Sox were on UHF. Bye bye Cubbies, you suck! Hello White Sox!I remember us getting a color television in 19-sixty-or-seventy-something. THAT was cool.

You gotta go with what works for you.I tried the TC for a while, it got such good reviews from "respected" members. Now it could be my age and resistance to change but I left it and went back to Kanthal and Watts (my preference used to be Volts, they just tasted better). I am a set and forget, mostly forget, guy.

Turns out the Cubs went 108 years without a World Series. The White Sox only went 88 years so I did good.
Thanks, Dad!
Your Cubs take the prize for heartbreak. When the A's were in Kansas City, Charlie Finley bought them made and quickly turned the team into an AL joke, literally and figuratively. Before the A's, we got the Cardinals on radio, fond memories summer evenings listening and waiting for the sun to set and cool down. TV was two stations where we lived, one station carried two networks, CBS and ABC, I was never sure which they were going show.
I was gone when the Kaufman's founded the Royals and restored some quality and class to Kansas City baseball. (Absent the Brett pine tar bat incident.) Too many years in the playoffs, I had to watch some great but losing games with the Yanks. I think Greg Nettles on third was a heart breaker.
