I just got my order in the mail from Jantyusa and I am very excited to try it out, but I'm running into an issue. Being a cheapskate I ordered the USB Cable with the little battery compartment and no real batteries- just a manual switch, atomizer, and five carts.

The thing isn't working. I'm pretty sure that it's my fault but I'm not sure exactly what I am doing wrong. I thought the usb cable would come with a battery in it, but it didn't. A standard AAA battery seems to fit fine but I only have batteries that have been laying around for a while after being used in remote controlls and so forth. And Im not even sure they are the right kind to use...

Does anyone know if this usb cable should work without a battery? Did other people get a battery with the cable? And finally, what is the best kind of battery to use and where do I get it?

Thanks for any help guys.. I really want to try this thing out.

I'll be emailing Janty as well but I thought I might get an answer here faster.

Hi Xpdx..welcome!
It definitly should of come with a battery - should be 3.6V Lithium rechargeable batt to go in the box...
No clue why you wouldn't get a battery?
It is right to order just the manual switch part/USB cable..I did from vaporguys..and came with the battery included..!I just put on my atomizer and off it went!

I'm surprised you didn't get a little generic battery with your USB cable, I got one with mine.

These are the batteries - DealExtreme: $4.32 Ultra Fire 10440 3.6V 500mAh 2Pack

They work with this charger if you want to use it unplugged - DealExtreme: $12.58 Ultra Fire 10440 14500 Ac Charger

The battery charges from the USB port and breaks the direct power supply to your face/device so the cable will not work without a battery. When you do put a battery in it you will have to let it charge a bit before it works properly.

I don't know the technical details of why other batteries might not work but suspect it might be that they are not lithium ion ones and that changes their output or something.

Hmmm....I'm kinda surprised you didn't receive a battery in the box. With all that's going on with Janty, this might have been an oversight.

There is a special battery to use....a rechargeable one. I never tried mine without the batt to see if it would work but it doesn't surprise me that it doesn't. Unlike the "boxless" passthroughs, the usb port on the Janty is meant to charge the batt, not power the device (that's my understanding anyway).

Contact Jeff....if you should have gotten one, he'll probably get one right out to you. Let us know what he says.

You'll enjoy it once you get it straightened out. Good luck!

Edit: Ha!....We were all writing at the same time! :)

Great find in! I looked all over for those batteries in the US when I needed them, and couldn't find any. Finally had to order from DX....took 3 weeks to get them. I said...never again! Really good to know

There good there. They delivered a dead cell to me and sent out a new one no questions asked. Just ordered some 16340s, I used them for 10440s and 14500s. All work flawlessly so far. Just for everyones info the 10440s work in the 801 usb, the Kissbox, and the cigar.

Ye. I confirmed that normal consumer batteries won't work. Frustrating becuase I have everything else. I emailed the company to see if they just forgot or if I need to order a battery. Thanks for the tips y'all.

Back to my 801 for awhile.

You should not need to order one - it definitely should have come with!

I emailed and haven't heard back. I went ahead and ordered a couple of batteries express mail from Battery Junction- thanks for that tip! I justify it by thinking that's its always good to have extra batteries around. This habit is expensive!

Oh well you can't really put a price on your health right? And I feel so much better when I am off the analogs. I went back for a while when my gear broke down and man did I feel like crap. I couldn't order new stuff fast enough.
