You know, I perfectly understand the resistance for a boost for wattage mode. As I am a retired electronic engineer and when I first heard about this, I was totally against it. And I could see other engineers feeling the same about it. And I could see the lawyers saying going into area of burning stuff, we can't do due to lawsuits. So no matter the number of requests, they are not going there.

But I have to admit, you have opened my eyes and I am thinking maybe this could be doable. I liked that 10% to 25% range you mentioned. Although for 2 seconds sounds a bit long to me. I would have to run some tests with various builds and all. But I would think it would be possible to get to the right temperature (I know we can't read the real temperature) in a tenth of a second or less.

The part I am still struggling with is whether you let the user to adjust it (an experienced user could do it, while an inexperienced user would likely screw it up), or let the mod figure it out (which would be really a tough job electronically). Maybe the simplest would be to have a database of profiles. Like say you download a profile for a Crown 0.25 ohm coil and then the mod knows what to do fairly safely.

Bill, I pulled this out for you from the ProVape Radius user manual. Perhaps THE most conservative group of talented engineers in the industry. :) Fair use extract:

"HotShot ® Boost mode allows you to briefly pre-heat your coil and get more vapor with each puff,
removing the need to take pre-puffs. This setting is adjustable, allowing you to dial-in your favorite boost
time setting. Boost mode is useful for those who want to heat up the atomizer faster. With Boost mode
turned on, the atomizer will get a boost of power for a short period of time and then the power will drop
down to your set power. For example, if you set your wattage to 10 watts and then turn on the boost
mode to 1, by pressing the button, the device will boost the power for the first .25 seconds and then it will
drop it down to 10 watts. Increasing the boost level to 2, 3, 4 or 5 will increase the amount of time the
device boosts the power before it drops down to your selected 10 watts. Note that turning the ProVari
Radius up to max wattage and boosting up to 5 will not exceed the maximum output of the unit which is
up to 40 watts. Boost works up to 35 watts, but anything over 35 watts will only boost to a max of 40 watts
for the selected time.

Boost 1 - .25 seconds
Boost 2 – .50 seconds
Boost 3 – .75 seconds
Boost 4 – 1.00 seconds
Boost 5 – 1.25 seconds"

Yes it works! I'm currently playing and experimenting or perhaps wasting time /lol with a single Clapton in a GP Heron V2 with my boost set to 5.

HTH

Strictly power mode usually @ 70-80W with occasional 130-150W romps.
It's cute and wears 25mm tanks perfectly.
Good enough battery life vaping 20-25ml/day.
Black is cute. Red/black is sexy.
Best $40 mod for high wattage vaping.
I'd be happy @ $60 so $40ea. means I have 3 in the vapocalypse box.
Dropped a few times on rug and hardwood (maple!) floor and no damage.
Great dependable mod that could be devastating in a self defense situation.

It would be perfect with a Yihi SX350j chip. There's that boost mode for big Claptons.

A boost mode would be cool, (and could maybe be added in a future firmware update), but it's hardly essential. You can always wait a sec after firing before inhaling or blow on your coils before inhaling. Personally, I prefer the menu system and screen layout of the RX200 over Yihi's chip.

but the Yihi vapes like a higher quality chip, even the 330 has the Joyetech chips beat, now i love my Joye chips, but the experience the Yihi gives is just alot nicer

You're probably right. I'll have to save up some extra vape budget $ for the upcoming SXMini Q Class.
