    Somewhere between here and there
I have been vaping for about a day and a half now and ordered some juice from four different suppliers. I was a pack and a half a day smoker and in one day cut my analogs by half. I tried some nuport from nhaler, some mint from rockymountainvapor, some vanilla from ruyan and I got the sampler pack from johnson creek. The johnson creek liquid seems to give a better throat hit and more vapor. I have tried the jc original and the arctic menthol. The jc original seems to be my favorite so far even though I am a menthol smoker. I just did not think any of the mint/menthol flavors that I tried had enough menthol taste to them. Any suggestions? Also, since I am new to this, I was wondering why all of the ones I have tried seem to have a sweet taste to them? Is this because of the pg? I would appreciate any info.

Either order a small amount of menthol crystals off ebay or try your local pharmacy - sometimes they will give you a few if you tell them you're going to use them in a vaporizer. Dissolve some in a very small amount of Everclear or Vodka and add a few drops at a time to get the flavor you want. Pure menthol is very potent.

I smoked Newports for over thrity years and I no longer vape menthol. I thought I wanted menthol, but found so many better tasting flavors. Once in a while fire up some Totally Wicked Spearmint, but prefer coffees, tobaccos and some chocolates. Keep trying e-liquids for a few weeks. You may lost the taste for menthol and find something you enjoy more.

The Menthol I got from ELiquid Planet (VG) was very Menthol Tasting to me. BUT like the other posters say I found to like the regular Tobacco flavors best for all day vaporizing like TC Tennessee cured and coffee type flavors.
I think I'm growing out of the menthol taste after 20 years of smoking them - Strange but true....

have any of you had back luck with JC? I ordered some juice on the 21st, and have not heard one thing since - I'm not even getting replies to my e-mails. From what I read, they're quite a reputable shop, but total silence scares me.

Not sure whats going on with JC, but feel quite confident that when the FDA starts real enforcement, that JC will be one of the first doors that they knock on... if they haven't already... as far as the FDA is concerned, JC is selling and marketing an unapproved drug. Time will tell...8-o

I've had good results with JC myself. The orders came within 5 business days. I've read comments about bad delivery and service from them but my experience has been pretty seamless.

On the Menthol - I never smoked menthol regularly, occasionally if I had a cold, one or two seemed to clear the nasal passages. 8-o Maybe not. But I tried the JC Arctic Mint flavor and after a few cart's, it seemed just way too minty for my taste. I use a very small amount with their regular blend - like a couple drops per small 5 mg bottle, and it's plenty for me for variety. Same with the vanilla - a little mixed goes a long way for me, over the long haul.

I'm another ex-menthol smoker (for over 20 years) who does not vape menthol. When I got my first e-cig, I assumed menthol was the way to go. I was wrong. I actually preferred the tobacco-flavored liquids.

I tried liquids from various vendors and seem to have settled on Johnson Creek. I alternate between the JC Original and Tennessee Cured.

Johnson Creek just recently revamped all of their recipes in expectation of satisfying the FDA.
They talk about it on their website, and feel they are more than ready.

The tabacco flavors work extremely well with a number of complimentary flavors.
I often mix and match with a few drops of some of the following...

    Chocolate
    Caramel
    Coffee
    Butterscotch
    English Toffee

I got a 12-pack of 6ml samples from myfreedomsmokes for the additional mixing flavors.
But I use Johnson Creek as my base liquid.

I have not tried their new recipe yet, though, and I am a bit worried about the new flavor.

Here's the messed up thing. I absolutely hated menthols and never smoked them, now I can't get enough of menthol/mint flavors. I'm adding one or the other to almost all my chocolate/coffee/cream flavors.

Thanks everyone for the input. Since I posted the original thread this morning, I have been vaping more of the jc original and opened and tried the tennessee cured. I think you guys are right. I have been a menthol smoker for about 18 years(started with marlboro reds for first five) but now I am really enjoying the jc original and tennessee more than any mint or menthol that I have tried. Thanks again everyone.
Also I was wondering if anyone knows of a coupon or discount for jc smoke juice?

That is strange and you're not the only one that has mentioned it. I would never smoke anything but menthol and while Janty's newport is still in the 'rotation' I'm hooked on RY4 and Cappuccino. All the tobacco based flavors, hilton, kent, flue cure, mlb, camel, virginia! all taste good to me without the menthol as well.

what does the ry4 taste like? I have heard several people mention it.

Depends on where you get it, and your tastebuds. If I recall RY4 and JC's Tennessee Cure were tops on a recent poll. The most common description of RY4 is caramel/butterscotch and vanilla and something else. Janty's 'something' else is, imo, a smokey flavor up front and to me some 'pine' of some sort. The ruyandir and eastmall Ruyan 4 doesn't have that as much but the Janty does. People on the DIY thread have described many things as that 'something else' they taste - marshmellow, vanilla icecream, cream, cream soda, and many others. Some taste a little menthol? Perhaps that's the pine I get... Some even say no caramel or butterscotch :)

And it seems to be a bit of a 'love/hate' flavor - my friend upon trying it said 'moldy basement' and another 'fake smoke'. My wife likes the Ruyan 4 from the China retailers and is just ok with the Janty which is my top juice.

It's definitely worth a try - say a 10ml bottle from Janty and one from ruyandir. It's not sweet... well, to me it isn't. It's my least sweet juice and resides in my Janty Stick. So far the JS hasn't seen another flavor - mine came with the RY4 cartridges. My wife's came with Virginia which is also quite good.
