No man's land
Just got my bottle of 11mg Red Oak Arctic Menthol from JC today. Keep in mind this is my first experience with the company's juice, and I'm using an eGo-style battery with a regular 510 cartomizer.

Smell: Very, very pungent. Just opening the bottle makes the whole room smell like the juice. I'm getting a maple syrup-like flavor, with a bit of chocolate, caramel, molasses and a bit of mint of course. It reminds me of a specific kind of hard candy I had during childhood, those little light brown chocolate squares that are about a centimeter across, rounded on the edges, and came in a tin (anyone know what I'm talking about? I googled and can't find them, it's bugging me).

Taste: It tastes like it smells, to put it simply. But as I vape it, I imagine I'm smoking a Swisher Sweet with only a hint of mint. I definitely like the taste. In fact, I like it A LOT. But it's not what I expected. It doesn't really taste like a menthol cigarette. I'm not getting any real cigarette-like tobacco flavor from it, and while it is a bit minty it is definitely not menthol (to be fair, every menthol flavored juice I've tried has failed in this regard). I want that cooling effect that menthol provides so I guess I'll have to keep looking.

Vapor production: Fairly good. I'm using a cartomizer that I think might not be wicking properly, I'll have to try other methods of vaping to really determine how this VG-only juice performs.

Throat Hit: Not much throat hit at all, kind of disappointed. I have to pull really hard and take a very deep and abrupt inhale to feel anything. It's only 11mg so I'm not surprised, but other juices of similar strengths perform much better. But again, I'll have to try other methods to really come to a solid conclusion, as I only have one functioning cartomizer at the moment.

Overall, I like the juice and can see myself using it regularly if I get attain a better throat hit with a different method (like the Tank, a clearomizer, or just dripping). But my quest for the perfect juice continues...

PS: This stuff is PUNGENT. The vapor after exhaling has the strongest smell of any juice I've used, and kind of smells like waffles and maple syrup. The stuff really lingers in the room and sticks to your clothes. I vaped in my bedroom for about 10 minutes, left for an hour, then came back in and it smelled like waffles. I put my nose to my shirt and it smells the same. This is a downside in my opinion, I don't want to smell like I just left IHOP all the time.

Excellent review. Sounds like an interesting juice but not one I would want to bring in my house and definitely not a choice for stealth vaping.

With 100% VG you shouldn't expect much of a throat hit. There are devices I am sure that can enhance that but its the PG and the Nicotine Strength that crank up the throat hit. You are absent one and low in the other.

If you are looking for that cool menthol experience, you can order Menthol Crystals or Menthol Drops (Menthol Crystals dissolved in an alcohol solution). Here are a few suppliers:

Thanks, I'm going to have to try out those drops. I really could add some real menthol flavor to all the fake menthol juices I've bought. The Arctic Menthol came with an empty plastic bottle that I could use for mixing. Probably do a bunch of experimenting to find a sweet spot.

I have to give credit to JC for their packaging though. It's really classy and they include a bunch of stuff. I got the Red Oak sample pack as well and each bottle has its own glass dropper.
