the higher in the beginning and progressively lower types of settings are good for wick systems.
CE styled clearomizers, the vivi nova, top feeding clearomizers benefit from this type of setting.
Thats what I've read at least. It helps with getting a good hit and then maintaining a small hit.
By doing that, it is vaping the liquid by the coils, and then not burning any smaller amnts of juice pulled in.

I have an eVic in the mail and I have been sitting on this question: does it suggest a specific wattage that you should vape at based on the ohms of the atomizer you put in it? I have seen a few reviews and it appears this way, but no one has specifically spelled it out this way. It will be my first VV/VW PV so I really am clueless as to voltage and wattage and really think it would be awesome if the device suggested a base for me to start at....then I could move up or down depending on my experience.

I found this chart helpful.

Plumes...what have you been running on yours?
I have a brand new T3 that I was planning to christen it with.
From what I've read so far, I was correct in getting the 2 ohm cartos.
I had a choice of 2's or 3's.

Right now I'm using a 1.9-2ohm kanger T3 with 15mg juice at 8.5 watts which gives me 4 volts.
I find that I do put the wattage up when I am using lower mg juice to vaporize more juice per hit.
And, certain types of tops need higher wattage. I'll probably never go below 8.5 though.
So far I have used this T3 and my smoktech R tank, and they are both doing well at the 8.5w.

When you 1st get your eVic you'll need to update the software and get acquainted with your new device. If you have PC, be sure to run the MVR software as administrator so that your PC has permission to access the eVic. When you 1st screw in your top, its going to recommend a wattage. In my experience that wattage is going to be underpowered. Try it & see if you like it. Then, either put the wattage up, or down, depending on how you think the vape would benefit. After that 1st user tune-in, the next top that you screw into your evic, will prompt the evic to change it's voltage to accommodate that topper. Try it, see if you like it. Adjust. Once you really tune your evic to vape well with 2-3 differently resisted toppers, it should do it on it's own fairly well & you wont have to (theoretically, and for the most part) But you needing to adjust the watts will be dependant on a few things. Like, if you are using something that does NOT wick well, you may need to adjust the wattage down so that it stops burning the wick. Or, if you are using a lower mg amount juice, you may want to adjust the watts up.

No. It has a base suggested setting. You can change that number in setup through MVR if I remember correctly.

When powering on, mine always recommends 5.2w no matter what is on top.

Thats what my Evic always suggests as well...5.2w

As far as voltage and watts are concerned...and trying to tell between the difference. Well they are both just a measurement of power and we can control this power output with the Evic wheel. What I really love in the new firmware update 1.2 is that now the Evic can show both volts and watts at the same time. It calculates based on what the ohms of you atty is.

So I was loving the Evic until 2 days ago when it just quit working. I can't turn it on for some reason, it's like the button just stopped working. I can plug it into my computer and bring it up in the MVR program no problem and charge the battery etc but just cannot get it to power on. I have tried resetting it to factory firmware and re-upgrading to 1.2 but nothing has worked.

Anyone else have this issue? I emailed Joyetech 2 days ago but have not heard back yet.

Here’s how I’m running my eVic so far:
AUTO Setup: a little longer than the MVR’s curves
OK, I was working in auto with MVR curves set up for curves less than 2 sec total and in auto @ 2 sec.

Ending MVR curves for AUTO Operation:
To end each curve I taper down the last second then the very last 0.1 second I go up to where I want the volts/watts to hold at IF I hold the Fire Button in longer than the 2 seconds I have Auto set at:

Tried two MVR curve setups this time both with taper down and end at where I want to hold at:
1. TAPER UP Start: In MVR VW start with the first .5 sec @ a middle watts value to start heating the coil. Then go to maximum watt for another .5 sec and taper down to the lowest.
VW 1.7sec.jpg

2. FULL UP Start: In MVR VV start right off at the highest voltage for that first .5 sec then taper off at different rates depending on the ohms
VV -1.jpg

So far can’t see a big difference but haven’t put a scope on it to see what it’s “really” doing, just going by the readout as it fires. Just been working on how to setup this new PLC’s PID’s for its single channel analog output and finding MVR is no Step7:blush:

Also found that my battery wouldn’t go to 100% till I adjusted the ma cap up.

I know this may seem like a dumb question, did you click the button 5 times to turn it on? Sorry I am used to telling people to plug in their computer when they tell me it's broke. :p

HAHA Nice! Yeah I feel ya, and of course I know how to turn it on and off. The button clicks fine but it just doesn't do anything. Really wishing there was something in the MVR software that let you power it on and off. of course I have a feeling even if I did get it powered on the button wouldn't fire it.

Basically got a nice looking paperweight now.
