so I have to ask are the SD cards any good?

No lol. I got one from a QC-rejected batch recently and it didn't work for me. I'm sure they worked fine for a lot of people though.

But just FYI, a lot of what you get from walmart and the like are rejected parts :p

edit: for clarification, I knew that SD card was a knock-off because Amazon recognized it and recalled them. Was just pointing out that it does happen for cheap parts.

I got his from joyetech website:

From recent marketing feedback, we receive many emails verifying if they are using genuine joyetech products. At the same time,
we find many distributors resell knock-offs in the name of joyetech. Regarding this situation, we Joyetech decide to apply the use
of barcode and serial number.

We have a specific barcode for every product’s package. Customers could check and verify on the support page on Joyetech electronic cigarette, Tank System, Changeable System, eVic, eRoll, eGo-C, eGo-T, 510-T, e-Liquid,
which tells you detailed description of the corresponding photos and specifications.

With the release of eRoll, we began to apply for the serial number. Every product has its own serial number and each serial number
has its corresponding security code. They are all randomly and solely generated by computers. Joyetech customer could check if
the security code is in line with the serial number on Joyetech electronic cigarette, Tank System, Changeable System, eVic, eRoll, eGo-C, eGo-T, 510-T, e-Liquid to verify whether the product is manufactured by Joyetech or not.

Before delivery, Joyetech factory would scan the serial numbers and get them recorded with the corresponding orders. We will
memorize them in our company server computer. Meanwhile, Joyetech distributors would also get serial number recorded in their
sale. As a result, every Joyetech product could be traceable. Whenever customers need more information from our Joyetech or
Joyetech distributors, only need to provide the serial numbers. Then Joyetech distributors or Joyetech service department would
be able to provide further technology support and after-sale services.

No, counterfeiters take rejected parts that already have legitimate serial numbers. They just don't throw them away and instead sell them.

Still have to go through the hassle of recreating that card etc. I think if you get a card and scratch it yourself, and it matches up, youre pretty safe.

It's produced along-side it.

Truth is, if you're getting a really good deal, you're getting rejected parts.

To be honest, it's not a bad thing. If you don't like the product, you can return it. They'll cycle it back through and try again. In prior times when rejected parts were bad enough that no one would be happy this wouldn't work. But these days even the rejects are generally not horrid. So this ends up being a good way to reduce waste and to profit at the same time.

Everyone wins :)

Interesting... My numbers I scratched off dont register but... I havent had a single leak/misfire/performance issue. Got my kit from exhalevapor for $45 (ish). Holographic joyetech stickers still attached to the box. Even if my parts were rejects, all is good on my end, right down to fit and finish. I do prefer that over a brand new database registered kit that fails ;).

I wonder if it is a QC thing where a few samples from mass production batches had slight irregularities and didn't earn the database bar code approval entry... ie something about the batch was off and they were liquidated by the Joyetech company. <--- yeah, I would bet on it... Do you really think Joyetech said "50 in 1000 did not meet requirements. Toss them all in the can." ???

THat is where I got mine. The scratch number did work, but I initially put in the wrong number. You have to put in the scratched off number, then it returns the serial number. It is no clear from the website to do that. If I put in the serial number it says it doesn't exist.

My order from Rocky Mtn vapor came in and they did correctly change my order to all stainless steel (I accidently ordered black and contacted them via the website to ask them to change). That is pretty good customer service. The delivery was pretty quick ordered on the evening of 2/27 (wed) and in my hands the morning of 3/2.

I got 2 new kits as well as accessories. The kit boxes were not wrapped and did not have holograms. They are both the slotted cases. Haven't had time to check for any problems and did not do the scratch check yet.

Thanks Junkman. I'll may try it again on my phone. I think maybe it needs Java enabled and I don't want to mess with it. I was just curious because I had never noticed, or heard of, the scratch number.

I have java off in my browser (supposedly) so shouldn't be that......
