Question... I accidentally burnt 0.2 coil last night. I had it in my vape bag and the fire button was continuously pressed. (I know I should have turned the Penguin off). So, I replaced the coil with a 0.6 coil because that was all I had. I let it sit for a few minutes before vaping it. It still tastes burnt! Yuck! Is there anything inside the cartridge itself that I could have burnt originally. Or did I just burn out another coil? Do I need to replace the whole cartridge? Luckily, I do have one other cartridge to use with my penguin.
Oh no! I burnt my .2 ohm coil out, too, by taking a dry hit. I didn't have any problems with the .6 ohm coil also tasting burnt after I changed it out, so I would suspect either the .6 ohm coil is bad or the cartridge itself is burnt, but I honestly can't say from experience. Did you change out the juice between coils?

Nope, I kept the same juice in it. It's a higher VG juice if that makes a difference. It was very flavorful on the original 0.2 coil before I burned it out...

Ahh, the higher VG juice may have been too much for the .6 ohm coil. I did read in the manual that high VG was not recommended with the MTL coil. I even thinned out my juice on the .2 ohm because I vape max VG and I didn't want to ruin the coil and ended up doing it anyway, lol. I have been thinning my juice out with a max PG juice I accidentally ordered from Vape Wild a while back ago. Lucky for me it was my favorite flavor! :D I really wish the replacement coils would hurry up and be in stock somewhere. I have a 5-pack of the .2 ohm ones on preorder but I really want to go back to the .2 ohm coil now! :)

One of the things I've been mulling over, while trying to decide whether or not to pull the trigger, is the question of flavor retention in the silicone cartridge.

I suspect that switching flavors may be an issue with these. No big deal really; just have separate cartridges for different flavors

Now I'm wondering if you burn a coil, does that get into the silicone too?

Might not be much of an issue if they were to put out some higher resistance coils. As much as I'm looking at the Penguin, there's no way I'm going to pull the trigger on it if the only coils they provide are sub ohm coils.

I have not had any flavor retention in the silicone housing, but I haven't tried a menthol flavor or anything really strong like that in it. I have changed from fruits to creams to nutty flavorings with no problem, though. I do love that the cartridges can be switched out so easily, though, considering how much juice these things hold! :)

I am hoping for more coil sizes, too. I do have to say, though, that the .6 ohm is VERY MTL. It has a ton more cotton in it than the .25 ohm coil. The horizontal design on these coils really does make them perfect for this mod and the 2 available coil options are a great start.

I just received mine from myvaporstore (MVS) yesterday, Penguin and extra coils, I'm very happy with their service!
I've been checking mvs every day, and today everything was in stock. I ordered 2 kits, one black the other red, 2 extra cartridges and 2 packs of the .25 and 2 of the .6. I'd like to thank you for the heads up on mvs.

As of this morning mvs has them in stock.

Got mine over the weekend and have tried both coils with my 70vg liquid and both seem to be a very dry vape. There is little flavor and they seem on the verge of dry hits. Of course I've primed them both and let them sit for a while. There seems to be plenty of vapor, but flavor is lacking. I purposely flooded the .6 coil by removing it and dripping juice into the coil and the flavor was much better, though of course it gurgled till it cleared out. Went back to a dry vape pretty soon after. All this seems to point to me needing to thin my juice even more.

Can anyone that has used the penguin, tell me about how long the coils wii last? I'm not talking days or weeks but ml's of juice.

Wife is on day 26 with the original .6Ω coil.
Approx 125ml of 10mg/ml@40%PG, DIY: RY4@10%+Strawberry (TFA/INW/CAP)@5%.

To keep it as "leak-free" as possible, blot dry the coil housing when refilling and mop up any condensation/overfill completely.

Cheers

I have been vaping on my .6 coil for about a month now, so probably around 80-100 mls of juice. It's still going but the draw is super tight. Flavor and vapor are still amazing, though.

Definitely sounds like your juice is too thick. I burned out my .25 ohm coil very quickly from dry-hitting it, so be careful! I think you will like the performance a whole lot better with thinner juice. :)
