I'm watching this with interest - I just started vaping again after a year off. I make my own juice with Perfumer's Apprentice flavors (that I buy from a lab, not from PA) and I still had all my old recipes so the recipes have not changed - but now by the end of the day I have a sore parched throat. I had to buy a new mod with one of those giant mouthpieces and a giant coil (I used to have a stockpile of the old 2 dollar plastic smok one-piece tanks with the dry-burnable coils - loved those). I have also noticed this new wide-mouth tank tip, the vape burns my lips because the juice hits it.... so, not sure if the burning is due to a change in the way PA is making their flavor or if the new coil strength and wide mouth are just too much for me. I vape at 50/50 with 2% nic and 13% flavor. I've gone down to 2% flavor but still having the same issue.
There is no reason to continue to torture yourself by using a delivery device/tank that you don't like, creates problems for your vaping preferences and doesn't provide the vape you want.
Most if not all newer cloud blower/subohm/wide mouth tank tip style 'tanks' are designed for a Dtl inhale method and use with high Vg liquids. It wouldn't be uncommon in tanks like you have for 50/50 liquids to spit back through the drip tip and seep or leak into the airflow chamber or base.
Whatever new 'mod' you bought has a 510 connection as does almost every style delivery device/tank available.
If a Mtl tank like what you were using before is what works best for you, buy a different delivery device/tank that suits your vaping preferences.
The Innokin Zenith is a dandy Mtl tank that uses simple to change push in replaceable atomizer coil heads.
The 1.6Ω head with the airflow control set however you like it, will be a very good upgrade and similar enough to what you previously used to get familiar with quickly. And you won't have to change the way you vape or the liquids you use.
