Juice delivery woes

So I have two delivery systems, a carto tank and a protank 2.

Pros: the protank is easy to fill and disassemble and clean. The carto tank is easy to refill after initially loading the carto, and there is virtually zero leaking.

Cons: the protank leaks like a mother and over 50% of the coil heads I buy have little to absolutely zero airflow. The carto is a pain to initially load and cartomizers are hard to come across at my local brick and mortars since they aren't very popular. Also the flavor can be a little funky with cartos

I am looking for a reasonably priced solution that provides somewhat easy changing of flavors, easy disassembly and cleaning, and little leaking. I also prefer bottom coil tanks.

Hit me with suggestions peoples.

Have you though of an RTA like a Kayfun? I have a Kayfun now and all my other tanks are collecting dust. Amazing tank!

Not sure what an RTA is. Similar to a RBA? If so RBAs seem like a lot of work between rewicking and recoiling. My initial Google search for the kayfun showed ~$110. Is that correct?

RTA (rebuildable tank atomizer)

My replica of the Kayfun (Tobeco) only cost me $43 and performs just as well as my buddy's real one.

It only takes about 5-10 minutes to build a coil and wicking takes much less. You only need to replace the wick when it starts becoming burnt, which is not often for me. You can use a coil for a very long time. When you go to rewick, dry burn your coil to burn the gunk off it and run it under some water to wash it off (not while firing the coil).

Here is a good all around tank that I like a lot. It holds quite a bit of juice, and doesn't leak. I have several of these and use them daily in my rotation:

I am looking for a reasonably priced solution that provides somewhat easy changing of flavors, easy disassembly and cleaning, and little leaking. I also prefer bottom coil tanks.

For lounging at home, I use a simple ProTank1. It's only 3 parts. (Body, Base and changeable head. I guess 4 once you unscrew the head.) For me, less is better. It never leaks and it never floods since I pack my own wicks now. A tight and full draw but that's what I like.

Out and about I use simple Evods. Same concept as the ProTank plus the heads are interchangeable. (Again, less to fool with). They're cheap (as are the heads) and if you lose one it's not the end of the world.

When sampling new juice recipes or changing a lot of flavors quickly I wanted to do this as economically as I could. I used to waste a cartomizer for each flavor and while they're only $1 each it adds up. Or sometimes I'd hose out a clearomizer, try to get it dry and start over. (Took too much time). Now I just use this:



$7 + a $2 drip tip from somewhere. Yes, you do need to learn how to coil which is really quite easy and you don't have to do it that often. I use a tiny piece of cotton ball for each flavor and it takes like 5 seconds to rewick the coil ready for another flavor.

With all the little things I do for myself now combined with mainly DIY juices I have trimmed a $400 monthly nicotine/smoking habit down to about $15.

And BTW... I have not had an "original" vaping thought in my life. I got all this info here.

Edited to add - OP, you probably aren't ready for it now, but when the time comes, and you're tired of fiddling with toppers, you might want to look into bottom feeders. Yes, they involve building coils (though you could use a disposable atomizer or cartomizer), but a coil lasts me a few weeks to a month, depending on when the mood strikes me to build a fresh one, and flavor changes is just a matter of blowing out the feeder tube and re-wicking with cotton.

I wish I'd discovered them earlier before spending money chasing the next best topper. All I wanted was minimal fiddling and great taste. My search ended with bottom fed devices.

No - it's a bottom COIL, but it's not a bottom feeder.

A bottom feeder has a bottle of juice UNDER the atomizer that you "squonk" to feed juice to the atomizer.

I use REO's but there are others out there, but most would agree that REO's set the standard. You don't HAVE to use a rebuildable atomizer on a REO - you can also use a disosable atomizer or cartomizer on the REO - both would be fed from the juice on board.

See my avatar? That's a REO Woodvil. You put an atomizer on top (many use the RM2 that Rob sells, as do I). You squonk the juice through the hole on the door. Inside, to the right is your battery. Depending on the size of your REO, it's either a 14500 (original mini), 18490 (Mini 2.0/2.1) or 18650 (REO Grand). The Mini and Mini 2.0/2.1's have 3 ml bottles, the Grand has 6 ml bottles.

Not trying to sell you on it, but I really wish someone had told me about REO's when I was throwing good money after bad looking for a topper that I didn't have to fiddle with. I spent money on VAMO's, SID's, SVD's, MVP2's and Provari and PT2's, Aspire's, Davides, iClears of every variety, KFL+, etc. When I got my first REO, it was game over for everything else.

Every day - I grab a REO, if it's a smaller one, some extra juice and a spare battery, and keep cotton in my desk at work in case I need change the wick out real quick with a flavor change. Juice change takes less than a minute. No more fiddling, no more burned tank fulls of juice (because the only thing affected by a dry burn if you forget to squonk is the little bit of juice on the coil, not the juice under the atomizer, and maybe the cotton which I can change in 15 seconds).

The bottom line is you cannot make a juice delivery system with current technology that has zero potential to leak. As air pressure changes inside a device it can force more juice through a wick than it can absorb. Since the wick also must have air flow across it, excess juice from the wick will get into the air flow and cause leaking or gurgling. Cartos do tend to leak less because of all the filler in them that absorbs the liquid, but even those can leak.

The only way I can think to guarantee zero leakage ever is if they somehow add a negative pressure valve between the juice and wick, that only opens when you draw on it.

KFL+ is about the most leak proof tank system I have ever had, bar none. Right side up, up side down, layed on it's side. It will hold 4ml of juice. You do have to build a coil for it and occasionally re-wick it. The flavor is also far and away better than any clearo or carto tank I have ever tried. Buy a clone. I got an EHPro on fleabay for 38 bucks, shipped.

For clearomizers, the Iclear 30s is really good, and I haven't had one leak on me yet. Good flavor, good vapor for a clearo system. Good luck.

I had a Russian that leaked if left on its side also. Once I got it cleared out it was good for a minute, then dry hits galore.

i havent personally tried this but i hear great things about the nautilus aspire. was thinking of picking one up to carry for running around. same concept as a protank but better. and i had no issues with my protanks when i had them.
