I'm a relatively new vaper, and I run into a constant problem of my ce-4's leaking from the bottom and creating a small pool of liquid in my eGo batteries. I thought I had rectified this by buying different clearos but its happening again, and it's really putting a damper on my vaping experience! This is happening every so often with brand new clearos. Help, please!

The only way for liquid to get through to the base of a CE* clearo is for it to enter at the top, where the coil head is seated on the stem. If this is happening on multiple clearos, then the likely cause is improper filling. You absolutely must drip slowly down the side of the tank, at an angle, and not let any liquid reach the top of the center shaft. Don't overfill, either. Stop when you reach the 1.6ml line, even when the tank is tilted.

Try a bottom coil clearo like a Kanger or eVod.

However, it's been more misses than hits with clearos for me. I won't use them (with the exception of iClear 30's, and only then I use them as backups.)

You might want to inspect the o-rings around the base of your clearo. It might be damaged or missing.

Also, what kind of juice are you using? Are you vaping your clearos until the tank is empty? Sometimes clearos work better if you keep them constantly topped off.

Edit: also what the previous poster just said. Take your time, tilt the clearo at an angle and avoid the top pointed grommet at the top of your wicks.

Totally right. I've even do the same thing with my cartos when I first stated using them.

Could be technique of the draw. Long slow draws work best. Hard draws can pull too much juice onto the wick, and it can then drain down the air tube. Chain vaping can also do the same. Try an occasional firing without drawing, and see if that helps any. Some condensation down the tube is "normal", but that's not the same as leaking copious amounts.

Exactly this, also. ^^^^^

I had one guy come in four days in a row saying all of his clearos (iClear 16's) were spitting juice in his mouth. I went through the normal diagnostics routine and everything looked fine (o-rings were there, nothing looked damaged or broken). Then I handed it back to him and asked him to hit it. He hit it like he was... well... he was sucking REAL hard on it. Instant gurgling. I told him he might be drawing too hard and he became indignant. "This is how I like to draw on it!" I explained that longer, slower draws produce more vapor and less gurgling, but he said, "Hell, that ain't the way I wanna do it!"

Sigh.

Nope, it's not a filling issue as I had the exact same thing happen with every ce4 I had and I know it wasn't filling tecqn. cause I tried it with a needle too and still got the leak and I wouldn't have vaped enough on it to get condensation yet either. I think it actually just wicked too much and up and out it would go. It's why I've gone back to the ce2 and just use the inside thread. Havent had a single problem with this setup yet. (Knock on wood)

Are you carrying your setup in your pocket?

When you sit down, the battery/clearo could be too horizontal which would allow the juice to flow toward the mouthpiece. Then when you set it upright, some juice could get into the center hollow post and drain down to the battery.

That would tend to happen more when the clearo is full (or close to it).

This shouldn't happen unless there's an issue with the clearo. I leave all of mine sitting on their sides when not in use and never had any of them leak because of it. The only thing I've ever seen leak when on it's side was a dripper when there was a bunch of extra juice sloshing around in the bottom. Well, and an evod that didn't have the base screwed on all the way, but that was entirely my fault.

I must be getting lucky. I use an eGo-T 650 with a CE4 and a CE5 with no appreciable leakage. I started with the CE4 and just recently upgraded to a CE5 type. On occasion, I will take a Q-tip and wipe the battery contact clean, just as a habit. I never see any wetness on the Q-tip or discoloration. I keep hearing about leaks and keep watching for one with my rig, but no leaks yet. (*knock on wood*)

I would say this to the original poster - I'm fairly new to vaping also, but some things are the same from crowd to crowd. In this case, most of these accessories are mass produced in China with subpar quality control measures. You may have received a bum tank, a bum o-ring, or a shoddy part in the assembly somewhere. Thankfully, these clearomizer assemblies are pretty cheap, so order a new one from a different vendor (make sure it has the right threads) and try it out - it might fix the leak issue.

I couldn't find any possible way to enjoy the CE4 so I just skipped over clearo's and carto's all together and went straight to the RDA. Now I won't have to clean my battery every couple hours because it's impossible to et juice down there since my air holes are on the side instead of in the threads.

Now if only I could find a way to drill through my stainless steel barrel for a 2nd air hole without a drill press or electric drill so I could run dual microcoils.
