Juice Turning Red in my RDA

Hey guys, so I recently brewed up a new batch of Strawberries and Fresh Cream (both Flavour Art). I used 12.5 % cream and 7.5 % strawberries, with 1 mg/ml nic (suspended in VG) and then the rest was 100 % VG.

So it's a 20/80 PG/VG mix.

After vaping it for a bit I put it down and went to drip some more the next day and noticed that the juice on the wick had turned a bright red...not like from burnt cotton or from a darker flavour. This is particularly odd as the juice in the bottle is completely clear.

Now, I realize strawberries are red and was wondering if that's it? But it's uneven. Hrm.

Any ideas? Should I stop using it?

it's the gold plating in your atty... the plating leaches into the cotton or wick

I'm using an asMODus clone. There is no gold there. Also happened in my tobh clone. No gold in there either. hrm.

I'm curious as well. I mixed up some grape/raspberry juice the other day, it was as clear as water. Gave it some heat in a crockpot, let it breathe and sit overnight.

I tested it in a dripper, and it's turned a golden orange color on one side of the wick.

It's more homogenous than your red blotches, but it's a similar phenomenon. That could be plating from my trident screws, however, as the shiny is wearing away to a brassy color... But I would expect it to be grey, if a shiny coating is wearing off.

I hope somebody is able to shed some light! Is the flavor at all unusual?

I had that same thought, but mine hasn't worn at all. The flavour is the same. I'm more curious than concerned to be honest, aha.

I would entertain the idea of your atty leaching the cheap metals into your cotton... give it a good scrub and clean

a lot of times that happens from sugars in the juice carmelizing. *sp. Ive had crystal clear juices turn my wicks a deep red. The explanation was the sugars carmelizing.

Nicotine will oxidize when exposed to air, light and heat. When it oxidizes it will darken in color. Typically it will be a tan or brown color but sometimes it will turn a rose color. Speculation is it is a reaction with certain flavorings. Vanillas are one that will often turn a rose color.

I don't think it was the atty, I cleaned it very thoroughly (scrub, alcohol, boil). I wick with rayon cotton. But this hasn't happened with any other of my juices. I think the caramelized ion theory might right, or the nicotine oxidization. I guess this particular combination of ingredients made it sweet enough to do this.

Come to think of it I opened my Igo-L which was set up for my friend with no nic papaya juice and it was pure red...I thought maybe the cheapo igoL rusted but that explains it better.

Just discoloration though, right? Nothing to be worried about?
