Average vapers will use between 2 and 3 ml per day. It's normal for new vapers to chain vape and that's OK. If you overdose on nic, you will get a headache and/or feel dizzy. It's not serious. Just lay off for a while.

Vape taking long slow pulls and then exhale. Don't vape like you do with a cig with short, quick pulls. You will be getting most of the flavor from your mouth or nose if you exhale thru it.

It's not unusual for new vapers to not like tobacco flavors very soon after they start. Branch out on your juice choices to include some fruits and/or dessert flavors. It's not unusual to like something you thought you would hate. Also, if you turn out not to like some of the tobacco flavors, they can be made vapable by mixing with some other flavor, ie tobacco and cherry, tobacco and coffee, etc. Don't be afraid to mix some of this and some of that in a small amount (3 or 5ml) to test the outcome. Also, some odd flavor combinations can result in a good tasting eliquid.

PS..........don't give up on any flavors you don't like initially. Your tastes will change when your taste buds start to heal, so save them to try again in a month or two.

Drink lots and lots of water. It will help flush the cig toxins out of your system, help your taste buds to heal, and keep you from getting dehydrated from vaping.

I guess you feel a pressure to put down the cigs immediately. There are many here that were able to.

I couldn't as it took me a while to find the right nic level for me. My point is that you don't have to stress about this. I haven't had a cig in 3 weeks but if I do so what. I am not smoking the 20+ a day I was.

By the way I won't have that cig as I know my juices taste better.

Relax have fun with vaping and it will work out

Most excellent advice! I'm going to have to compile a list of all the great pointers in this thread and others. Wonderful stuff. Thank you!

Considering the length of time my wife and I have been smokers I can't imagine that either of us will simply quit cold turkey.

I'm sure we will cheat and neither of us are saying it has to be an immediate switch. Ultimately, it is all of your amazing stories that has me sold on giving this a serious go.

Definitely planning to enjoy the ride. :)

For me, I didn't make any goals or promises to myself other than, I'm gonna try one of these things and see what it's all about. That way I felt there was no pressure to quit, or promise every day to reduce/quit, etc. Just trying it out to see what it was like.

I received my first kit upon returning from my lunch break on August 10, 2011, and had just had a smoke on the way back (about 1:30pm). I haven't had one since. :)

I did try a drag or two that night and the next night, but it was so nasty after trying the tasty juices, that was that.

I was a PAD smoker for 13 years, and when I got my first PV, I thought it would help me cut down on my smoking. I never thought I could quit cold turkey since the last two times I "quit" I got sick and started smoking again after 2 days! :D Anyway, when I did get my PV, with my batts charged and juice ready, as soon as my last pack was done, I never bought another pack... quit cold turkey much to my surprise. After a month, when my battery died and I was craving for a smoke, I lit one up and it tasted terrible. Good luck to you and your wife! Hope you get to kick the habit as successfully as most members here :)

Great to hear your stories Frazam and Sonic!

I certainly hope we both have similar experiences.

I raced home today to check the mail. I got a couple of packages. Mom & Pop vapors and a bunch of atomizers but alas the shipment of our PV's didn't arrive and the tracking info says they are still in California. Damn you USPS!

And, I think that I need to cut up my credit card. Since I last posted I've ordered 10 more sampler type small bottles of liquids from multiple vendors. After reading a thread for the most popular liquids for 2011 I just had to order the Copper Creek House Blend. And, I've bookmarked quite a few pages for the liquids that sell out within hours of being made available.

Can't imagine we'll have any shortage of variety to keep us entertained over the next couple of months.
