Jumping the shark? (Yet another ProVari thread)

Hello,

I am pretty new to this forum as well as vaping in general. I currently have a Vision Spinner and have been dripping with attys.

I don't want to say I am over this setup as it has done well over the last month or so. Problem is that I would like to move up the rungs to better PVs.

After a lot of research I am at a place where I see two paths. Vamo or ProVari.

I am leaning towards the ProVari as it has often been my contention that if you have the means to get the " best" (subjective I know) you should. As buying 3 of something that costs half as much, while being slightly more manageable over time, ends up costing the same or more than going to the top from the beginning.

I guess I am just looking for a little insight from those who have been down this road.

Also, I have an EVOD and can't stand it. Guessing I got a bad one, but it tastes like plastic. I have done everything to no avail. I need suggestions as to a long term (e.g. multiple ml) system to use. I ave been dripping. I love it. Gets a little cumbersome while in the car and such.

Thanks guys.

I started with an EGo twist, because I wanted VV, tanks and cartos. I have now moved up to a Provari with extension, still using tanks and XL LR Boge cartos. I slot my own. There is a taste difference between the twist and the Provari. I think it is because the Provari has a steady voltage, where as the Twist will pulse at higher voltages. I am looking into Kanger Pro Tank 2s, because I think it will be simpler than carto tanks. You will be able to fill it just by taking out the bottom. No more tank fillers. If your atomizer dies, vs a carto dying, all you have to do is take out the bottom. No more lost juice, sticking fingers, etc.

Hi!

Just because products are popular, doesn't mean there aren't any others to consider. You might want to look at the Sigelei Zmax as well.

I have lots of toys and I use all of them. Each has it's own uses and quirks. Of all of my devices, nothing beats my ProVaris for build and consistency; that said, I have been vaping my Vamo for the last 2 days.

(In case anyone cares, it's because I discovered pulse width modulation is interesting when dripping with a 1.5Ω atty)

rounding third and heading home...
have to 2nd the sigelei zmax v3 telescope flat top-great mod with lots of cash left over to try different tanks, cartos, and clearos. for instance, look at the ovale cylo- a tanked atomizer that I just got and it is vaping like a steam engine. that's the real fun in vaping-not just the mod but all the juices and methods of vaping.

Third the Sigelei, but the new V5, not the V3. There is a much larger middle ground between the Vamo and Provari that is worthy of your attention. The Provari lacks many features that many find important. The toppers you like will also affect the device you vape on. I use carto's a lot, so the Provari makes sense. But when I use evods, I can't even use the Provari without an adapter, which looks stupid, imho. The middle ground of Sigelei's, Innokin's, and evic's is fairly impressive and I have all of these devices except the MVP (I have to have an Ohm meter - sorry), and love them all. The V3/V5 allows multiple batts with a single telescoping tube, has a nice OLED two line screen, is built better than the Vamo and tough, like the Provari. Until you get to really high end mods, nothing compares to the accuracy of the Provari, the warranty is better than most, and the quality is second to none. The Provari doesn't have the popular variable voltage, or ego threading, so I only really use it with my carto tanks. Look hard at the middle ground. A $60 Sigelei V5 is a whole lot easier to digest than a $200 Provari, particularly when you're trying to figure out what you like. No one ever regrets buying a Provari, or a Vamo, from what I can tell, so you probably cannot go wrong. Enjoy the Journey. VapeQuest is half the fun of vaping. Live, learn and find out what works for you. Good luck, happy shopping, Power up and Vape On!

The debate about pv's could go on & on so ill just say do your research & go with your gut! It's a tough decision but I doubt you'll be disappointed with either. Also consider how long you plan to vape versus the lifespan of the pv's you're considering. As far as a delivery method for everyday use I recommend going with cartotanks! Once you get the priming down its easy & they're great for everyday use. I've never had any leaking issues since I started. Plus I find the flavor to be better than vaping with clearos. Good luck with your decision!

I have to admit when i first looked into the provari, i wasnt looking for the "holy grail" device, i saw how reliable it was and was sold right away on something so durable and repairable, im a buy one once kind of person and the thought of tossing something when it breaks doesnt appeal to me unless its dirt cheap (vamo anyone?)

but the way the provari is so true and steady on the voltage output has spoiled me and i now find myself subconsciously judging everything else i use against that performance. and when i leave the house not a second thought is given as to what mod i will grab.

in the end, like others said theres many devices, go with your gut and what interests you, if your looking for reliable now and playing later provari is the ticket.
or you could get the vamo and decide 40 dollar shiny of the week is my new hobby, then one of those, and one of these and................

i have been through a lot of "junk" in the vaping world and it gives you much insight and experience into how things are perceived, but i wish i pulled the trigger on the provari sooner then i did. but as cheap as it is now the vamo is a good first step up.

Im over those arguments of this voltage is better - but that has VW - that menu sucks because - that has more features, bla bla bla.
I own it for one reason, its damn near unstoppable, and i can count on it to hit the floor(and it has more then i can count) and still work and if it doesnt i can fix it for less then another mod.

I really like my Vamos. I haven't tried the ProVaris but if they ever come out with VW, I'll buy one. Vamos are nice because of the price and they cover the basic feature set I want. Plus, the field is going to be improving rapidly and it doesn't make sense to me to drop big bucks if a better alternative will be out soon.

ETA - and, the Vamos are cheap enough, I got two for half the price of a ProVari so I have instant backup if one goes down. Much better than having to wait for your ProVari to be repaired.

The bedazzle comment made me chuckle. Well played.

If I am being honest, I guess I just wish that I could rent these things for a bit to see for myself. All too often I get excited by something and then go right to the top of ladder. This was the case a year or so ago when I picked up a pair of Astro A40 wireless headphones for gaming. Then I sent them back due to the fact that they did't seem to be as great as they were made out to be.

Simple fact is that I will bust my .... to earn the funds necessary to obtain anything that will make something I love as good as it can be. The flip side is that without testing for myself I am relying on the subjective opinions of strangers. Not that I mean to devalue the advice and reviews that I have read/watched her or anywhere else.

Without communities such as these I would have spent a billion dollars on blu's, quit vaping, and smoked myself into the dirt. I am grateful.

I guess I am just going to watch and read a little more. Continued help is much appreciated.

Thanks guys.

I strongly suggest if you find something that catches your eye, go to the sub-forums and read what current owners have to say about it. That is were you will see threads started about specific issues with that model.

When I was researching my box mod, I went as far as PMing members I didn't know who owned them to ask questions. Google is good too.

Ain't that the truth !!

I think you may have been Bedazzled by the Astro wireless headphones.

If I may chime in here. There is NOTHING better out there than Bose noise cancelling headphones.......at any price. This si not debatable. Anyone that has ever put them on will say the same thing, but most folks are not willing to the price.

I do not own a Provari , I have no problem affording one, I just haven't bought it yet. Do your due diligence as you said and peruse these forums... I mean REALLY spend hours and hours as I have reading these forums. You will see that one thing stands clear.... the vast majority of the veterans on these forums prefer the Provari.

You will also see over the years, as new mods come out they always compare it to the Provari and a few weeks or months after that, the posts start coming in about "problems" with the latest and greatest things that they compared it to just a few short weeks or months before. And this seems to keep going on and on.

So, what have I learned ? Bose noise cancelling headphones = Provari :p

I agree with what Thrasher said about the Provari. I own several different mods, including a standard size and mini Provari. Nothing comes close to the quality build, durability, consistancy, and reliability of a Provari. It is the APV that all others are compared to, and few if any have come close.

It doesn't have variable wattage or a few other bells and whistles like a puff counter, but when it all comes down to it, do you really need those features, or do you want to invest your money into a PV that will be reliable for years to come? Even should it require repair, Provape will repair it for small fees for as long as you own it. Turnaround for repairs average 1 week. No other company offers that, because China doesn't provide after-warranty repairs.

Having said that, since you love dripping, also consider a bottom feeder box mod. As much as I love my Provari's, my recent purchase of a Vapage VMod has surprised me with the same attributes that I listed above for the Provari. It's only a mechanical; no variable voltage, but I can't say that I miss it on the VMod. Much less expensive than a Reo box mod. The full flavor of a drip atty with the convenience of a tank.

VMOD 2.0 and VMOD XL

Above is my VMod-XL with the optional faux burrel wood case shell and a Sagewood glass drip tip. I'm getting almost 2 days battery time with an AW 18650 IMR 2000 mAh battery, and the 9 ml juice bottle lasts me 3 days.
