Part of my reasoning behind the transition to mech is cost of the mechs themselves. Sure some of the clones need a little tlc to get them right but that's half the fun

When it comes to Mechs; I'm partial to "Chunks"...
Big Ol' heavy honkin' SS (w/Copper or Silver-plated Contacts/Pins) and/or full-Copper Fire-Breathin' Voltage/Wattage spewin' Beasts in an aesthetically pleasing Form.
As such, IMO just can't beat an Authentic Philippine-made Mechanical Vape Monster.
I like my mechs as compact and efficient as possible like the SMPL and the Stingray X. I have a couple of big chunky ones, and the weight and heft of them puts me off using them.
I tried to heat patina my copper SMPL and had disappointing results. I've seen some fairly pleasing results using ammonia and salt, but I've also seen some bloody awful ones too. Also, I'm pretty sure you need to clear-coat the end result which I've never had much luck with either.
I have a few but they seem to sit on the shelf due to the evolution of regulated mods and tanks

You tried one of these? Currently one of my favourites and sits nice in a tube
I can't see any possible evolution of regulated mods that would dissuade me from the dedicated use of mechs, nor of tanks and would lure me away from gennies. Not going to happen.
Good call, any UK links to hand by any chance?
I didn't know that , see I'm learning stuff alreadyYou do know that the mechanical was pretty much invented in the UK. Both the Mako & The Don are great PVs. I've had a Mako for five years, and if there is a way to brake it ... I haven't found it yet.
MacTech: I stopped by electronicstix last week to find out what the skinny was there. The new owners are getting rid of a lot of 'old stock'. I picked up a N Zonic (about a $250 mechanical, from the Phills.) for $15. (still haven't even taken it out of the box)![]()
