Was at my son's place yesterday. He's extremely happy that I quit cigs and am an avid vapor. We work on some of his business stuff together several times a week and he gets a kick out of guessing what "flavor" I'm vaping on any particular day. His nose is pretty spot on!
We were talking about movies and he brought up something I haven't seen posted...or might have missed:

Do you think it's considerate to vape while in a theater watching a movie? (not talking "stealth vaping" here)

My son quit going to theaters after the "fog" of "vapers gone wild" prevented him from actually seeing the screen with any clarity. (The smell never bothers him.) I never even thought about this, or any other place one might vape, that would be inconsiderate to other people. We've had discussions about restaurants, but this was a new one for me.

Anyone want to comment?

I know you said you weren't talking about stealth vaping and if regular vaping is the only option, either sit in the back of the theatre or don't vape. It's just rude. There's no excuse for inhibiting someone else's pleasure just to have your own. Stealth vaping is another story. If you're confident you can do it well, then fine, but if you screw up....

my take on it is if its not ok to smoke, its not ok to vape ( unless with permission )....the self-entitlement of "some" vapers just blows me away, pun intended. Next thing will be its ok to let a big fat stinky one "rip" in an elevator because no one said no.

What? That isn't allowed either.

Lol

I do not advocate openly vaping clouds in a movie theater; that is rude and I'm sure that it is not allowed in any cinema theatre.

Having said that, I discretely stealth vape at the cinema. I generally only go to shows that are not going to be crowded, I always sit in the back row, I wait until the ceiling lights are out, and I conceal my vapor by doing a double inhale technique. I use a small mod (Smokech Gripper with an IBTanked tiny tank) that can be concealed in my fist. What nobody see's is nobody's business.

IDK personally I think there are more important things to complain about but thats just me.:vapor:

But i probably would'nt blow clouds in a theater either.

It really wasn't a complaint, my son just chose not to go to theaters anymore. We only have 2 theater chains here, both are multiplexes and one, Harkins' Theaters is owned by a personal friend of mine:ohmy: Dan Harkins always pushed the envelope as far as patron perks and he's an ex-smoker of 30+ years, totally into health and fitness so I can see why he offers that option, but I wonder if it will effect his business....:2c:

I stealth vape in theaters. I have never been detected as doing so, I have never been approached. My buddy who sat two seats away from me had no idea I had vaped when I told him I did it after the movie. So it seems my double inhale and breathe out through a cloth handkerchief method works just fine. If I was discovered by a fellow movie goer, and they asked me to stop, I certainly would.

I don't see how it can be rude or self-entitled if it has no impact on my fellow movie viewers.

I respect the opinions of those that choose not to vape during a movie, and I would never tell them what to do. Those choices are made by adults who know what suits them best. So why is my choice questioned and my general character judged to be self-entitled by "some" posters?

I think blowing out "large clouds of vapor" is a really bad idea in a movie theater, but I would not call someone who did it names. I might tell them why I thought it was a bad idea, and explain why. They may not have ever thought about it my way, and change their ways, or they might tell me I am completely wrong. Just because they were not being as considerate as I would choose be in that situation doesn't make them a bad person.

Wow! So he has gone to theatres where people were blowing vapor clouds in the theatre? I have not had this experience myself. I do vape at the movies but I definitely stealth & there is no vapor being exhaled. Personally I'd be really annoyed if I paid $7-10 for a seat in a movie & had to watch it through vapor clouds. But I find it strange that any vaper would think that blowing vapor clouds in the theatre where it affects visibility of the screen would be acceptable.

Seats at my local theater are 15bucks. Add that to 20bucks for a coke and popcorn and you can get a lot of E-juice. I boycotted movie theaters years ago when the money just got stupid. Right on par with baseball games and football.

I still wouldn't whip out a protank in a movie theater, kinda rude unless you're hiding in the back row where you cant be seen. Man have things changed since the 1970's. Smoke in a theater? uh yeah and it wasn't tobacco either.

I've vaped at the movies, but I only do it when there's very few people in the theater and when I can sit in the back. Never had an issue with it and no one has told me to stop. That being said, I don't chain vape - maybe 1-2 puffs here and there and that's it. Most of them have smoke detectors inside the rooms and setting one of them off isn't going to do you any favors.

As for cost, it's $10/ticket here in JC. I don't buy the overpriced drinks and popcorn. It's $4-$8 for a bottle of water, up to $20 for a bag of popcorn and $4-$8 for a box of candy, not to mention the $4-$10 for a coke. That's insane, but they don't make their money off movies.

I think the cheapest thing in there is cotton candy and it's $3-$4 for a normal sized bag (like what you'd get at the fair or a carnival).
