That's because the bottom spring on the eVic isn't very stiff. When I put mine down to hard or drop it I can hear the battery rattling, so my guess is that the eVic looses connection with the battery; just like when you take the battery out.

I've found that button top AW IMR 18650's are a tight fit, and my eVics have never turned themselves off.

Mine have never turned off and stock battery is a very tight fit. No matter what i do i never get a battery rattle
