Just finished my first coil build ever. My intention was to build a 1.8 ohm micro coil for an evod head using cotton and 30 gauge kanthal with 9 wraps. It took me a hell of a long time but I finally got it. However, it came out to 2.3 ohm. I wanted 9 wraps and I do think that's what I ended up with. Every time i tried to count my eyes started hurting!! It's vaping pretty well on my itaste vv; just taking a while to heat up. There's definitely room for much more vapor production if I got it right.

Thanks RiP Trippers!!!!

Edit:

Also my first time using cotton - flavor is def better. vaping AV Flue Cured. I think I'm gonna throw on my MVP2 and see what happens next.

That's exactly what I had to do....LOL.

So for my second coil, I made sure I did 9 wraps of 30 gauge; I even got the wraps really close together like you're supposed to. However, my resistance still came out way to high. It was a beautiful coil and I had to junk it.

So for my third coil, I did 9 wraps of 28 gauge; again, I got the wraps close together. This one came out darn near perfect....AND I got 1.8 ohms when I was finished!! It heats up nice and quick and is working well overall.

After a while of vaping on my itaste vv, it now reads 1.6 ohms.

I hesr ya on counting coils, I just give up on counting and make a new coil paying attention to how many wraps

LOL I used to do that and now I cheat... I take a zoomed in picture with my phone... and then look at the picture and zoom in some more to make it easier, then I proceed to unwrap number of coils I need to get to my target number of coils :D

Hey guys.....after a day of using both organic cotton and sterile cotton, I feel like the Kanger 1.8ohm head with silica is giving me better flavor. Am I doing something wrong here? I'm using AV 555 (which you all know is 100 VG%) on a 9 wrap 28 gauge coil with cotton wick. It's almost like the cotton is taking the sweetness out of the juice.

Edit:

Nevermind....I was able to feed a piece of 2mm silica wick into the same micro coil. It taste exactly the same as with the cotton. Hmmmm....I wonder if the "flavor wick" that's on the Kanger coil head has something to do with it.
