Today I was looking through all my e-cig junk and noticed one of my CE2's was completely black where the coil is. I never noticed this and then started noticing almost all of my CE2's were black!

I started cleaning them, I put them all in a jar filed with alcohol, for 5-10 min. rinsed them, and then dry burned them.

I noticed a few odd things when I was doing it.

1. The black stuff is really gross!

2. Leaving the atomizer/CE2 slightly wet when dry burning helps A LOT. It turns into a small pool of boiling water when it evaporates and helps the process enormously.

3. The coil on the CE2 can light a cigarette! (my girlfriend tried it out) So this would really come in hand if, I don't know, being stranded in the forest and need to make a fire!

4. Using a needle to try to chip off some of the heavy gunk does not work at all!

5. One of my atomizers came back to life, after not working for almost 2 months.

6. The construction of the CE2 is very simple, and I always thought it was some magical creation that only top notch scientists from china could figure it out.

7. Dry burning drains your battery like no tomorrow.

8. The black gunk smells absolutely horrible!

9. Atomizers are hard to pop, I left my atomizer on and the safety switch shut it off multiple times on my riva 510. I actually tried my hardest too burn out an old CE2, but I gave up.

10. It's really easy to clean atomizers/clearomizers!

11. For persistant gunk, Use a syringe or a dropper and put a drop of water on the coil after it's cooled down from a dry burn. Once it's wet, start dry burning again. The water will boil off any of the other crap that's left.

I know that there are other methods for cleaning, but boiling water just didn't cut it for me and I don't have a jewelry cleaner. Most of the things I noted have probably already been noticed, but it was so cool when I took the time to realize things about an atomizer I didn't know.

BTW what the hell is the black gunk? dried up juice? why is it black?

I don't know what the black gunk is and I'm not sure I even want to know! But, I think cleaning the clearomizers is so much better than soaking and drying regular cartos, which take forever to dry. With the ce2s, I just run them under water, use my fingers to work more of the juice out of the wick, then pat them dry with a paper towel, blow excess water out, then do the dry burn thing. This is great for me, because I'm schizophrenic about flavors and am constantly changing.
