When I began my DIY adventures, I took the time to read all the "stickies" here.
Then I read the warnings.
Then I read the blogs from Hoosier and DannyV.

Then I got me this brand new Diploma from the School of Hard Knocks..

Why in all that reading did nobody tell me that putting a drop of flavoring on the
finger then licking that finger was not a good idea.

Smelled good.. seemed like a good idea..

Then came the fact that it was hours before I could taste anything but that flavor!

I know know I shouldn't laugh at that but it did strike me as humorous.

But not a good idea at all.. juice itself would be a bit of a nicotine overload? I'm talking about just the flavoring..

Maybe the "Keep out of reach of children and pets" warning should be revised to read "Keep away from children, pets and friends"

If it's a flavor I'm not too familiar with, or if I want to get a good feel for the flavor pre-mix, I'll dab a bit of the flavor on my finger or on a Q-Tip and touch it to my tongue. I've never had a bad experience in doing so. I've even went as far as doing it with multiple flavors to get a general idea of what they'll taste like when mixed together.

I normally drink something to flush it (coffee, hot tea etc), but I treat DIY as I do cooking, I need to know what the ingredients taste like before I waste time (and money) mixing them only to have them fail completely.

While the "tasting a drop on the tongue" technique is chancy, I've read several places about putting a drop of flavoring on a dollop of Cool Whip to test the taste ... I've never been able to get this to work. Has any one else heard of this? If so, is there some secret I'm missing?

I got the idea, from Danny I think, to put a small drop of flavoring on a saltine cracker and test it that way.
It works really good actually.
But, I try to keep the size of the drop pretty small.

Funny you should mention that. Just let me say dont trust those dropper caps and OUCH!! That s..t burns bad washed it out real good at the emergency eyewash station (ie.bathroon sink) and it was ok though, luckily it was only 12mg unflavored. There was no physical damage but man it hurt.

Hahahahaha...!!!

Yeah, *hangs head...* I did the same thing at first... (yep, it HAD to be cinnamon, too)

But, now before I add the Nicotine, knowing my machine, only AFTER everything is mixed will I take a tooth pick and dab an ULTRA tiny amount on the tip before addin' the expensive stuff. It's saved a many of juices by doing this...
