I just got some of these today.. I finished it about 30 min ago. I actually really like the gravity sensor feature. Its nice not have to click click click click click. Its a little weird getting use to the menu at first but its pretty easy to use.
I used a hammond 1590g.. the same one I use for my dna30 mods. No room for 2 - 18650s but with one Sony VTC5 it should be enough power for all day vaping (I rarely vape at max power...). The screen cutout was a little more challenging than a dna30 mod but dat screen.. in person the letters are much more of a white color.

WHat size did you have to make the cutout?

I'm on a hair trigger with one of these chips, but the lack of specs for simple things like screen size cutouts has held me back.

I'm not likely to make it on my own (I don't have the tools or the skills to precisely cut aluminum), but there are several places where I have have the cutouts done, and I'll need the exact sizes to do it.

As far as the button is concerned, it's my understanding that the SX350 already has a button soldered on the board. How would one go about using a different button (the pictures I've seen are of one of those tiny little buttons at the end of the wire, and I'd like a big chunky one). Is it as simple as snipping the old button off and soldering it to a new button?

Thanks

As far as the button is concerned you can cut off the original and solder your own momentary push button of your liking. And I personally would just have the chip on hand and measure what size screen cutout you'd like. I personally think anyone can make their own cutout, especially in aluminum due to it's incredibly soft nature, with some drill bits and files. If you own a drill then all you would need to do is get a large enough drill bit that fits inside the screen dimensions and drill this out. Get some files that will fit in this hole and just slowly file your way to the lines. The key is in the layout! Make a nice square/rectangle hole using a square and scribe some good deep lines. As long as you can see your lines I would imagine just about anyone could file up to the line.

Without hijacking this thread I will just post another example of my thread on the DNA 30. I have some pics in there of the screen cutout and the method I described above is exactly how I made my screen cutout. I have very little metal working tooling so made due with what I had.

Very nice work murdurturtle. Typically I'm not a huge fan of the Hammond box mods but yours is very well done and clean. I like the simple lines and also the fact you put the screen on the non removable panel side.

I assume that is hot glue all inside the mod. Is this just to keep everything in place? Is hot glue how you mounted your screen in place?
