Just getting into vaping

I've been a steady cigarette smoker for the past 5-6 years, and recently decided to try vaping as a way to quit. I have seen a few shops pop up around my area, but never gave them a second thought. I had a friend who bought a blu cigarette kit a few months ago, and it just seemed like a novelty to me.

Then last week I was in a gas station buying a pack of smokes and decided to pick up one of the disposable vapes they had there. after quickly going through all the juice that was in it I decided I needed to look into buying something I could refill.

I went to one of the local stores and picked up a X6 variable voltage starter kit and a KangerTech Protank 2. I have to say this has been one of the best purchases I've made in a while. My eyes have now been open to the awesomeness of vaping. Since I've been using this, I've have completely lost the urge to smoke a cigarette.

I found this site last night, and am amazed at the amount of options that are out there for both hardware and juice flavors. I think I may have found a hobby that appeals to my tinkering side and can help me health wise to stop smoking.

A very warm Welcome to ECF. Congrats on going with something decent. I also started with the blu's and was very disappointed.
Just a warning. Being so new please don't get brain overload like I did. There is so much information here, It's just unbelievable.

And if you like to tinker. Then get ready to break the bank. :) I know I have.

One reason I love vaping so much is the tinkering side. I love mechanical mods, and that's all I have. I love being able to do a build from scratch, working out various setups at various amps, wire gauge, and resistance. I can fully customize it to my liking, and experiment with different setups. There is a lot of accurate, and inaccurate information out there and you have to judge for yourself what works the best. Do as much research as you can if you do want to get into mechanical mods and more of the "tinkering" side of vaping. As always, respect what you are working with, and know your limits with resistance, amps, watts, ohm's law, and battery safety.

As long as it's not as bad as my other hobbies (cars, computers, and home audio) I think I'll be ok lol.

I've already started looking at mechanical mods. It's a little overwhelming, but I think I'm starting to figure everything out.

Hi JTM and welcome to ECF. Sounds like your choice of gear will be great for you as you start your vaping journey. There are so many options for gear and juice, which is wonderful news for us vapers. Glad you've lost the urge for analogs.

You'll find most of what you need to know from the folks here because they are so knowledgeable and experienced. Since you are a tinkerer, as you get the required number of posts, you'll be able to participate in the other, more specialized parts of the forum.

Congrats on finding and joining us.

What sort of juice have you been vaping? The answer gets you one post closer to participate in the other parts of ECF. Welcome and namaste.

Welcome to ECF! I had a similar experience with those "cigalikes" and although that surprised me at the effectiveness, it was only when I dove straight in that the quit got real for me. With that improved setup, it practically felt unnecessary to finish off every smoke I had in the house to insure I was out when I was out. Sounds like you got a good setup and that it could get you there.

Once the quit is real for you, I can't stress the importance of backup gear enough if you're going to make a real go of it. That means batteries, heads, coils and juice. I've been seeing my counter from only a mere 12 days ago and I've all ready paid for half my gear and juice. So, in the end, it's one of the more effective investments you could make and the initial cost of things is only a speed bump compared to the mountain. At least for me, failure means back to smokes...and it's probably the same for you.

I wish you luck on the quit and hope you can start seeing the benefits come your way soon! Thanks for joining us!

o far I've only been using the house brand that they have at the local shop. I've tried a few flavors there, but there are only a few that I actually like. I've been watching a lot of youtube reviews of e-juices, and I really want to try some from freedomsmokeusa.

I've been noticing those counters around this site quite a bit, how do you set one of those up? Oh and I already feel better after only quitting for a few days. I don't know if it's just me but it seems like the vapor is helping to loosen up a lot of gunk in my lungs from the cigs.

I have these particular afflictions myself. This one is cheaper, my friend, than a McIntosh amp or a cat-back exhaust :D

Congrats on making the switch and welcome to the tribe :toast:

It can be overwhelming, but once you get all the terminology that's thrown around, it all starts falling into place. The hardest part for me was filtering out all the BS and trying to get good info.
