Noone will hate you more than me!!
Ill spam you to death![]()
lol all good bro. i put in a large order 2 days ago and started to get squeamish when it got over 400 for just spare parts!LOL my fault for not pulling the trigger at the time.
i would love to have one that says "made by Imeo" "for my good friend Legion" engraved on it! LOL maybe after a couple more thousand posts in the GG forums
for now i would settle for a regular un embellished one!![]()
To be - mostly - understood when i expect to write in english in this american forum, for a frenchman like me bearing a long tradition of no-consistency in foreign language knowledge, is in itself a big achievment
the road open by Imeo in mastering english in its video-presentations gives faith and courage to the legion of european who, younger at school, were more interested in the young blond girl seated near them than following with assiduity the english language lessons on the board...i'm sure that a 'cultural exception' false argument will finally help in finding excuses for destroying everyday more the well written english on internet !
'finishing the job of God' ..
About voltage drop , cleaning and improving 'performance', i respectfully share my small experience in polishing internal sides and threads of GG parts : polishing - specially steel - can be highly time-consuming and costfull in a production process. As you know an Ithaka ggts base is mirror polished on the outer visible body only; if full polished its price would be probably higher with estimated small or no added interest for majority of users. The paradox is the less you see the surface intended to be polished, the more complicated and risky is the polishing job .
First for aesthetical reasons (at a certain point, i consider each GG part in its conception as a small piece of noble 'artisanat' made by a 50/50 % artist and technician : take a second look at a basic feeding ring, a simple Odysseus cap or a Penelope 2 air control mouthpiece , if not convinced) so i tried to bring to higher level of polishing the internal sides and threads of both mods and GG atos.
Putting aside the evryday joy for the eyes and the feeling that your own GG device is finally and invisbly unique with your own inputs, the benefits are objectively multiples : cleaning is far easier, juice does not stick, taste is more stable between 2 full cleanings, smoother handling and set up building, better conductivity. These benefits of an high level of polishing of each side of each parts is well-knowned in horology (for mechanical stability, oiling and ease of maintenance of the movements) or in surgery tools for cleaning procedure, for examples of hand made 'tools'. In these domains, the 'maniaco-highend-finish' can represent far more than the half of the overall cost of the product.
My next work will be on the ithaka 'NoNoR-upgrade' : screws with their nice large flat heads i'll bring to 'black' polish, this beautiful and complex center post(s) (i'll try 'angleage' for the ones who knows wath it is) dans this housing i definitly cannot let so roughly
Not to mention the hours this work/pleasure represent, i often build my own tools to reach the surfaces, sometimes with simple hard paper or wood, i believe in arkansas translucent stones for flats, Dialux paste range as always for motorized session, leather and fiber cotton for hand finish.
Finally the parts finished this way shows a kind of 'hand made' look for the trained eyes due to the microscopic differences of level, angles, brightness a direct wheel-drive polish cannot reach.
I assume to be a maniac (i prefer spending time this way than cleaning ashtrays...) i accept the demonstration this action is finally useless (i'm in fact not really interested in loss of voltage questions, my GG's works beautifully from their very first days), i only wish you to try one day the pleasure of dismantling for regular maintenance , cool at home with a second jGG loaded in hands, an Ithaka or a jGG lid with its threads or inside surfaces mirror-polished
Yes, photos would help, i'll try macrophoto soon ...
