Do you guys think this could work on a Brass Just GG?

Ariel!

I think it will work but, the final product will vary with different types of brass due to the many variations of alloy %'s used in different types of brass.
As you know there are many many different alloy mixes that can create brass. Zinc, tin, copper, iron and a few other alloys will determine the brass type. The percentages of each will also determine it's strength, look, use and reaction to heat.
I would use a torch for more control of heat though.

You first brother, than I follow! :)

Thanks, I was thinking about that, I mean, the different alloys.

I will try tonight at the vape meeting with a GGTS button head. I preordered a SS Just GG, but I want to experiment with the new alloy.

I think I wouldn't be brave enough to try on it :D

I was experimenting the other day with the button head, but as I hadn't watched that video, I heated it until it was red hot, results: it became black LOL. Good thing is i got it to look like new again by following the Bishopheals method (tooth brush and tooth paste) and some polish.

I'll be careful and patient this time :D

Slow passes. You have me now thinking.
What stops me is the ugly cheap tubes that some do with a torch, they are so ugly that I see them on the classifieds often. Quite a few do them on the the COPIER Ghost Modder tubes and they look terrible. I dislike Ghost Modder with a passion especially with a crappy torched tube done by some kid that wants 100.00 for it
Vinegar made into paste with baking soda will also save and clean brass brilliant.

You must know that you are 2nd in command behind Perseas my friend and have to be the one to expierament for us! :)

a black button on a silver GG isnt bad at all Ariel!
Perfect!

I have many brass buttons that I will try in a few minutes. Pictures in a while!

I am have fingers that give a black coat to the new alloy. After watching Ariels video I browsed through some of the other videos and found this on as being quite interesting for me:

I like the look but I wonder if such a treatment would save the brass from my hands...

Manni Post! Also shares #2 spot!

Always remember Manni, it is the fingers of a man that do not tarnish brass that we must keep an eye on.

I used to do something really similar to my copper mods with Liver of Sulpher (see my video below). I have never tried it with brass so I don't know the effects. But on copper its drastic and almost instant.

Out of curiosity, is there a reason that we're all shying away from lacquer? It seems like a saxophone would be the perfect example... Maybe have to strip it down and redo it twice a year, but that would be fine in exchange for months of pristine condition... Even the old alloy may not have turned black for me, but it was definitely clouded with tarnish in less than a day.

I enjoy watching the different patina tones. The best part is that I can clean it easily and start all over. Aged brass is to artful to coat imo.

But, you are correct, many brass instruments are coated to keep their "shine".

This batch will be the first and the last one Tsing. After that I am going to make only electronic GG

Well I sure am glad I've got a SS JGG on pre-order.

Like others have said in this thread, I got my first look at GG stuff through Chinese clones. I quickly became a huge fan of your designs Imeo, and so when I saw the Just GG announcement I knew I had to have one. Now I'm going to have to really consider if I should order a second knowing that this will be my only chance.

I think by moving towards electronic mods, you're going to step up the game big time in that market.

You can normally always find a gg or 2 in the classies. Of course if he just starts making VV mods fewer people might be willing to sell of their mechanical gg's. I ordered the ss just gg and decided to get the brass just gg once I heard that he is only making VV for now on and I have enough extra pieces from getting accessories over the time that I was able to get a hold of a engraved tube and make another gg. I am done for know (hopefully) until imeos next creation...

(the pictures looks like if were the same, I was trying to catch the light / angle to show the different color tones that the button acquired after the heating session).
