Wow that's awesome! Talk about an ideal situation! If you go into the Chilis I work at, the managers would shut you down quick status. And the guest who usually come in are to ignorant to understand that e-cigs are harmless.

Mmmm Mushroom ravioli at the Olive Garden :p

I think I'd be in the same boat as JDiz..can't see patrons tolerating the plumes of vapor, and understanding it's not the same as smoke. Maybe because I've had that kind of experience with a few a-holes I work with...one even looked up the FDA review online and has a few people convinced my e-cig is toxic and harmful, even in a second-hand way.

I just vape away from people now. Don't get me wrong, I've given the "good speech", told folks about the bennies of e-cigs. Unfortunately there are those who like to argue for the sake of arguing, and nothing more. F them. :D

I'll just puff away, away.

I vape practically everywhere, so far no problems. Some ppl are curious and wanna talk about it, others give me a confused look, but no one has ever asked me to stop.
I've been asked to stop or leave before. Apparently my legal vaping was making other guests uncomfortable...

I do the same, except when my wife is with me. She gives me a hard time and I suppose she just doesn't want to be embarrassed by taking the chance someone will come over and say ANYTHING.

Otherwise I don't let anything stop me but I don't flaunt it either.

Something like this table tent on their tables would help stop the confusion!

"Legal vaping" ? Giggle!

It's private property. They can refuse you service for any reason, or no reason at all. "Making other guests uncomfortable" is a darned good reason.

I don't think this point is brought up enough. Just because it's legal doesn't mean it's allowed everywhere.

Sometimes I think we tend to have the mindset that because vaping is legal, it gives us a free ticket to vape away anywhere no matter what anyone says. Unfortunately that is far from the truth. I am always polite and explain what vaping is, but if a business associate/owner still feels awkward I just put it away and vape again later or outside.

I'm sure JDiz wasn't feeling "self righteous" or "entitled". He just didn't have the same luck as mmcall did. And I'm sure he respected the rights of the private establishment, he either left, or he put his e-cig away.

Can't blame a guy for trying. Or for feeling frustrated for knowing that e-cigs are different than cigarettes.

The problem is, we can't actually prove to people the actual difference, because we do not have substantial longevity and studies to "show" anyone. Do we actually know ourselves? Not really, if we're being honest. We wing it, in essence, for our own (health) benefits, based on how we feel compared to when we were smoking, and on the fact that there are 4000 some-odd less chemicals/toxins in e-cigs.

I suppose that's one of themain reasons I don't 'argue' with nay-sayers.

Smoke nazis will always be smoke nazis. Their sole interest is in controlling what others do and in their minds we are just smokers who are "cheating". You can't educate these inflamed and festering boils on a monkey's .... They will complain to business owners about vaping just like they did about smoking. Their feable brains will hang on to that BS FDA report until they all lie rotting in the grave....

....which, hopefully, will be tomorrow....

When I took up vaping, I never intended to get back into restaurants and such. I was just looking to be able to vape in the more ridiculous restricted areas....like parking lots, public streets, etc....without getting fined. I'll cede private property for the reasons already mentioned....but will fight for public area vaping.

I put it away but I still think it's silly...
