I have the KR808D-1 model (Vapor King), and I've been reading so many great things about the 510, that I decided to buy one. I used a freshly charged battery (although I only charged it for 2 hours, the green light was on,, I KNOW i'm sposed to let it charge for 8 hours the first time, but just wanted to try 1-2 puffs to see how it worked). A brand new atomizers, a marlboro high cart, AND topped it off with Marlboro 18mg juice. It produced a good taste, lots of vapor, but ZERO throat hit. What am i doing wrong???!?

The KR808D-1 gives a great throat hit for me, so is there something I'm doing wrong? This is my first 3-piece, non disposable unit. I simply put the prefilled cart, connected it to the atomizer, screwed the atomizer onto the manual battery. I held the button down, so the blue LED lit up, and took a 5-7 second hit. Saw the LED light up, felt the atomizer get hot, and inhaled vapor. But ZERO throat hit. I also heard a bubbly noise when the atomizer was on and when i was sucking in. Is this normal? Almost sound like "what I've heard" a water .... sounds like. I took the cart off, and dripped a few drops of juice on the atomizer itself to see if would help, but it did not. Is it possible this 510 that is sposed to have such a powerful hit just doesn't even have the tiniest remnant of a hit for me? Seeing as how the KR808D-1 has a big hit for me,,, i'd think this would too.. What am i doing wrong/overlooking? Surely it couldn't be from only charging the battery for 2 hours, and the light was green, could it? I mean, 2 hours should be more than enough for at least 2 or 3 good hits, right? Please someone let me know, otherwise I feel very let down by this product. Thanks in advance!!!

thanks robw and donei... so have either of you had this experience with trying the 510 before a full charge or before vaping with it for an hour where you didn't get a throat hit at first? I just want to make sure either that I don't have faulty batteries, a faulty atomizer or, that the thing is just too weak for me. Donei, did you try using yours at all this morning when you first got it before the full charge? If so, did you not get a throat hit this morning, but now you do? What about that bubbling noise? Normal or no? Robw, with a factory cart, you are saying that after vaping with it for an hour, I will then start to experience more of a throat hit? Thanks in advance guys!

Yes, you MUST charge the batteries for at least 8 hours the first time. It's very important. Also, as Robw said, the atomizer needs to be broken in as well, some times it takes a day of use before an atomizer really starts working well. The bubbling noise is fairly normal, but gets worse from an over filled cart along with dripping at the same time. You can also flood an atomizer if you drip too much.

And what's a water ....? Nudge nudge..wink wink. :)

I recently received a 510 as well and am really loving it. The bubbling sound is normal, and I've actually come to enjoy it.

As for throat hit, I find it depends on what juice I'm using. I have an ry4 in 6mg that tastes amazing, has great vapor, but no throat hit. Though my Marlboro 11mg has a great throat hit. Try a different cart or top off the cart you have with a different juice.

I had an opportunity to try a friends kr808d-1 and I found that it didn't have a huge amount of vapor and the throat hit was way stronger than anything else I've tried. After using it for a few minutes it was just too much for my throat. I think the 510 gives you the best of both worlds and the manual battery rocks.

That harsh throat hit from your KR808D-1 was most likely from a nearly dried up cart and the fact that once the cart starts drying up the inner material actually starts BURNING up inside. You can read more about this here...

Thanks for the info so far guys,, I will patiently wait for my batteries to charge 8 hours. In the meantime, I am so used to the 2 piece models, that I feel like I am in a foreign world with this 510 3-piece model. Should I be dripping some liquid DIRECTLY onto the atomizer coil, or into that part at all? Or JUST be dripping liquid into the cart side where all the fluffy gauze-type stuff is? Sorry, don't know all the right terms!

I tried a couple of brand new carts and they both had the same harshness. Maybe it was a bad batch. After trying it, I was wondering why everyone was raving about them :)

The cart/atomizers for KR808D-1s are notorious for being full, half full, or nearly empty when you first put them on. The quality control is horrible. So if the cart is half full to nearly empty, the cart will start burning up inside almost right away, and yeah, then you are really getting a nasty throat hit!

I used to recommend the device to people because of it's simplicity. In the meantime I mostly used my 510. But then I read the thread I just linked for you and immediately started taking apart the carts from my KR808D-1. I was shocked at what I saw...

I don't want to hear this about the 510.................based on all the positive reviews, I broke down and bought one today for my wife....................I hope it lives up to the hype.....

PM me if she doesn't like it. I'll buy it from you...as long as it has the manual batteries. I can never have too many spare batteries and atomizers for my 510 collection! :)

Your using those prefilled carts? They may say High on them, but who is to say what you are really getting. I never even bother with them.
Get some Nicquid and fill your own. Also the Atty may take a little time to get broken in. I have found on some of mine, it has taken a few hours of use before they really start to come alive.

The gurgling you ar hearing is because it is somewhat flooded. This is not that big of a concern with the manual batteries as they are sealed.
If your draw gets to be a bit hard, blow the atty out, and or let it drain over night on a paper towel.
Note: Do not use compressed air on these 510 attys. The little fibres you may see sticking out from around the bridge are for wicking. If you use an air hose to blow it out, you will also be blowing out this wick. I learned that the hard way. It will still work without it, it just may not wick up what is in the cup as well.

The sound of a water .... inside your electric cigarette is usually an indication you have flooded the atomizer.

Take it off, blow through it from the threaded side with a tissue in front of the atomizer to catch any excess liquid. Use the corner of the tisue to dab the inside of the atomizer then put it back together and do not top pff brand new carts, they are already over filled to begin with.

If the atomizer is flooded it will not get as hot as it is supposed to get.

Seriously I have yet to have one completely die on me, although some over time have just gotten worse in their performance so I swapped them out.

In fact one day I dripped some new juice I had on the atomizer and the taste was so horrible that I decided to clean the atomizer, first by blowing, draining, etc and then I just held the manual button down to BURN off the rest of the juice. Well, I held the button down for too long and the atomizer got too hot and I actually got a small flash of flame out of it! haahaa So I thought, well, I just fried that atomizer. But much to my surprise I dripped on it, and it was still working great!! In fact I'm still using that particular atomizer. :)

Also, the Widow is a great supplier. Great prices, free shipping, and you'll get your order before you know it!

I love my 510 and I just ordered some juice from a site that sells the vapor king. Does this mean I may have trouble with it in my carts then?

You bought the juice for your 510, right? All the previous poster was saying is that some juices give you more of a throat hit, some seem to produce more vapor as well. But any juice you buy for the 510 will work just fine....
