Well, my 510 cartos and new juice just arrived from Vaporheads. (OT - Great service and prices)

After tearing open the package, I pulled the condoms off of my cartomizer and proceeded to fill it with my "Orange Creme" VG. The first thing I noticed is this carty RAN THROUGH and dripped all over my shirt. I screwed it onto the battery and it continued to run down the side of the battery. (Wiped it off) but it continues to seep a little. The hits arent as great as my modded carts (but this was to be expected) And it 'gurgles and pops' as I am hitting it. (with the occasional mouthful)

The taste of this juice has a hint of tobacco (like a pipe tobacco) undertone to it more than the 'orange creme' I was expecting, So I may try it out on one of my regular carts/attys.

All in all I wouldnt call this a disappointment, but the trade offs might not be worth the hassle/differences than my regular carts/attys give me. I think I need to give these buggers a little time to see if I like them anymore.

When I first started using cartomizers, I had a few problems of hissing and popping, also some leakage. Here's what I did that worked for me. I filled the carto, then let it sit for a few minutes to kinda soak into the new filler. No more problems for me after that. I wonder if it has something to do with the new filler material, not sure. Try that, maybe it will work for you like it worked for me.

I have used v4l and some standard 510 cartomizers and I love them. Easy and fast refilling, can be messy the first few you refill but you get the hang of it fast.

I must say the v4l (808) cartomizers are excellent and worth buying an adapter for.

Edit- The 510s popped and hissed like crazy but v4l cartos were quite and smooth vaping at 3.7, 5, and 6v. My wife and I are both getting about 4 days use out of each carto befoer tossing.

I think the 'tobacco' taste is actually coming from the cartos themselves. They smell like they were soaked in Marlboro juice and it seems that ALL of my flavors are imparting this taste (I even tried my cola and it had that taste) :(

I also managed to fry one by trying to remove the stuffing. It got red hot for a sec then died. LOL

I guess Ill find some empty carts and try these juices again. I guess cartos arent for me.

If the cartos have a tobacco taste to them, are you sure they are blanks?

Pop the cap off of an unused one and see if it's wet.

Also, I find it's easier to fill them without the cap. Just hold the open carto at a 45 degree angle and drip the liquid in there. You can see when it's full and avoid and leaking that way.

Are you sure you ordered blank (unfilled) cartomizers? I've had no problem with funky tastes using BLANK cartomizers nor any unusual leakage problems. I'm also using 510 cartos. On the surface it sounds like you're overfilling whether they are blank cartos or not.

Leaking sounds like they've been flooded. Are you using the "codom and spin" method for filling? Shouldn't be leaking like that. :(

Nope, Ive been using the "fill it til I see juice pool" method. *Cough*Noobishness*Cough* That and the fact that they were already pre filled didnt help much either. I think I need to take a step back, BOIL these muggers and actually LEARN how to correctly fill these.

Although the trial and error method works well for me, it can be a bit messy at times :p

Okay, FFWD a few more days and I think I like my cartos. No wait, I think I love them. :)

After finding out they were prefills, I did what I should have done to begin with - went on Youtube and found a handful of videos regarding cartomizers.

After boiling them, and learning some proper fill techniques these things are the BOMB!
I foresee a USB passthru and possibly some bigger (longer lasting) batteries now. (And more cartomizers!!)

Just like carts have a technique you have to master for a good hit, so do cartos. Fortunately, carts are Much easier to master.

One thing that I didn't seem mentioned here, maybe I missed it, is the paper towel blow.

After you fill a cart, you should put the cap back on and then hold a paper towel over the battery end. Now give it a blow thru the carto. Keep blowing until no liquid comes out onto the paper towel. Clean the carto completely and your ready to go.

Thanks for the technique update. I thought that I might be just wasting juice by blowing it out the end but it does make the cartos work like a charm. Thanks.
(I am not shaking your jar today...:D...so far)

Yea, my husband and I never liked those. We had so many issues with them it was ridiculous. Eventually we just switched over to the regular e-cigs with the e-juice. The flavor quality was MUCH better overall.
