Just got my first carto tank today. I see them in everyone's pics so I felt I should try one. I've been using vivi novas till now. I love how the tank looks! Awesome! No wicks sticking to the glass. Seems like I will go through less juice too.

Now my issue, taste. Nothing like my nova. Just hints of taste comparably. Is it the carto? Are some cartos better for taste? Is this just a known trade off?

I'm not sure if all carto tanks suck but all of them I used sure did, they would either flood or were to dry.like you I thought the taste sucked.I like the vivi novas much better. Most of the time I use RBA's but still use the vivi from time to time. The carto tanks can be a little tricky depending on the juice, # of holes, size of holes, juice thickness.I hear they can be good if you can get them just right for the juice you are using.I gave up and just started rebuilding vivi's and RBA's they are much better IMHO.

I think I will get into RBA's eventually. I may stick with my novas for now and try rebuilding them. Seems easy enough. I just love the way this tank looks and want to like it so much more.... It doesn't seem dry or flooded just not all the taste I'm used to now. Would the ohms matter? I've played with voltage on my twist but still not there.

I really think it depends on the flavor profile and strength of the juice you put in a carto tank. I use carto tanks all the time, but there are absolutely certain flavors that I prefer in my Kanger T3 clearos. While one flavor might taste somewhat muted in a carto tank, the important notes of that flavor will shine through in a T3, and the same is true in reverse as well. At least, that has been my experience thus far.

This is the perfect example of why there is no correct answer to: "What should I get?"

that is so true.I love onions and my wife hates them, she love mushrooms,I think they taste like dirt.everybody is different.what is satisfying for one person may just not do it for another.that's the great thing about vaping so many products,so many choices, something for everybody

Need more info. Which tank? What cartomizer? What ohm? What device are you using. You do realize that the tank itself has absolutely nothing to do with the vape, right?

I realize that. That's why I've been asking about the cartos. I'm not sure what ohms, it came with the tank. I have a backup in bought which is a boge. Heard it mentioned quite a few times here. Single coil. Have to look up the ohms. Haven't tried it yet. I still only have ego twist bats to use. Haven't stepped up to a APV yet.

If your spare is a Boge, it should have the rating etched on the side. LR is around 2.0 and SR is around 3.0. The SR will require more volts than the LR.

I have 7 phiniac tanks and they work great, I use 3 ohm sr boge cartos with 2 holes punched . 18 mg juice 50/50 pg VG,70/ 30 VG,pg it all works . I get get great flavor, and good vapor.:vapor:

I don't have phiniacs but I have numerous other tanks and use the 3 ohm Boge xl cartos punched with 2 holes with the same results. The only thing I've tried (and it's been lots) that even comes close is the Kanger T3.

This is definitely, definitely true. It's also personal preference. For my tastes, most of what I vape tastes better in a carto/tank. The way clearomizers wick can make certain juices taste noticeable different. I read a post here that says the wicks handle different types of molecules differently, but I don't have a microscope to confirm this. :p

For the last few months I've used Kanger T3s for initial tasting and for NET juices. Everything else is in a carto/tank with Boge cartomizers.

As for posters that say carto/tanks always leak, I don't get it. I've had several leaking issues with various clearomizers and zero with the carto/tanks I've used. If it's a good tank that's handled properly, the only reason it would leak is user error.

I have been using them for about a year and a half now and I agree that there is no flavor normally. But that doesn't bother me, I tend to use the same flavor continuously for months, so at that point, I don't taste anything anyway. they are just a convenient way to get my fix. I have been punching boges and they have been working well. the last 10 or so smoketec ones have flooded almost immediately and that is with 70/30 and single hole.

For taste it's hard to beat the Ikenvape platinum, but for sure Boge is a very very close second. Smotech cartos are good...but not quite as good as the other two in a carto tank. Close...but I can tell a difference.

Be sure you prime your carto before filling the tank. That is, use a syringe to fill or drip sufficient drops in to wet the fill material. After you've done that, turn the carto over...battery end up...and drop a few drops directly into the little hole. Go fairly slow and the drops will absorb right in (this is an important "secret"). Then put your carto in the tank, fill the tank, install your tip and vape.

If your juice is thick (vg) and/or dark you may need more holes. 2 or 3 total, depending. Put one hole in a line vertically above a lower hole. Works good.

I use carto tanks all the time, and they are amazing once yoy learn a few tricks to get them working right.

More than likely user error here. Ive seen people post that they quit carto tanks because they could rebuild a Nova but not once have I ever heard of someone saying they experienced a loss of taste between the two until this thread. Most people post the exact opposite.

Some of the flange pre-punched cartos really suck. My own experience shows them to vary wildly. It seems others have similar experiences.

Vape what and how you like, but I would encourage you to try tanking with a known quality carto before you decide completely.

I have not been impressed with the udct either. Others might have opinions, but my cheap carto tanks work better for me. I think the locking ring affects airflow too much (even if I use an extension to give it space from the mod).
