Good lord.

Ok, so I looked at the first thing I saw, an insert about breaking in the atomizers by dropping liquid....somewhere. I have read this thing 20 times and still have no idea where I am supposed to put the liquid.

Its in 3 pieces and I know what the battery is, and I *think* I know what the atomizer is so that only leaves the cartridge. The one that came with it has nothing in it (the cartridge). Am I supposed to throw this one aside and use one of the "pre filled" carts that came in the kit?

Is there a video somewhere that shows how to do all this?

Keep the empty cart, you can use that for dripping. I'm still not able to link stuff here as I'm too new, but there are tons of videos on the subject on youtube.

Just search "ecig dripping" or something like that and you'll get about a dozen different videos on the subject. Also there are videos about the 510 on there that talk about the parts, maintenance, etc etc... worth the watch if you have a few spare minutes.

yeah, you can either use a prefilled cart, or just drop a couple drops on the atty and use your empty one.

The empty one? It doesnt have that sponge thin in it....I drop liquid in there and it just rolls out the other end.

I think one of the batteries is defective, it doesnt work at all. And the other one gets hotter than hell. Dont know if I got a lemon package or what.

First and foremost - blow out your new atty to get rid of the primer fluid.
Take the atty (no cart) and hold (not grip) it threaded end down in a paper towel
Cover mouth over open end (where the cart fits onto)
BLOW HARD
Wipe threads
Reverse atty, and repeat
Wipe atty with paper towel
Now drip a few drops of liquid into the atty (inside theres a mushroom shaped mesh thing, drip onto that)
Use 2or 3 drops
Re-atttatch cart and primer puff (like using a pipe)
Drip 2 or 3 more drops (if you hear gurgling, which is different than popping like pop rocks candy) then you have added too much liquid - jsut blow it out again as in the first few steps.
Do this once or twice, then attatch pre-filled cart of choice and you should be good to go :)

Roll, try going onto YouTube and searching for e-cig instructional videos. There are a ton of them on there and a lot of them are for the 510. Once you see it done you will get it. It helps to see it put together and used then for someone to try and type it out. I hope this helps! And don’t give up; once you get the hang of it you will be happy, the 510 is a really good device. Good luck!:toast:

Don't throw away the empty cartridges. You may want to use them later when you become more advanced and start dripping. In fact, it's a good habit to never throw away any of your e cig supplies. Most items can be re-used or even turned into something else (other members may want to purchase such items).

A video on how to refill cartridges:

YouTube - How to refill Joye 510 Cartridge by ecigexpress.com

Note: Seemed like he overfilled it a bit, you don't want a puddle to form on top, but instead have the filler soaked w/ liquid.

As for the atomizer, from the the threaded end, you want to blow into it and remove any pre-filled primer liquid. Hold a paper towel on the other end to collect any liquid blown out. Then squeeze two drops into the atomizer where you held the paper towel (non threaded end - where the cartridge attaches).

Attach filled cartridge and you should be good to go. It takes a little patience b/c you may end up over filling and getting liquid on the battery (just wipe and and use a little less next time). Practice will make perfect.

Ok, been trying everything you guys suggested. Thanks, I appreciate it a lot!

Here is where I am confused:

Some of the videos say put one or two drops in the cartridge; the vid posted here looked like about 10 (!).

I blew the atomizer out like crazy, in fact I got some of the nasty liquid on my lips and that taste wont go away either. Ick. Anyway, I got the thing bone dry, then put a couple drops on the wire thingie. When I screw it together and drag on it, I hear this gurgle sound, it gets REALLY hot (is that normal?) and tastes God Awful horrid. Tried puffing for about 10 minutes without inhaling and that terrible taste is still there. I mean its really, really, really horrible; even the overpriced garbage at mall kiosks I have tried taste 30 times better than this.

I dont know if I am still missing something, or these things just have a flavor that I cant get used to.

BTW I am using the Menthol 25ml liquid

I saw another post here where they pulled the filler out of a new cart and cut it in 3 pieces. Next, fill the empty cart with juice up to the ridge (flat to round area). Then stuff one of the pieces of filler back down the hole...slowly so as not to push the liquid out. Put a drop or 2 more till the filler looks wet. Insert the cart onto the atty, wait a few secs for the atty to soak up the juice and vape away.

This works really well for me. Great hit!

How long are you holding the button down? Also is the battery getting hot or the atomizer (the middle of the 3 pieces). The battery should not be getting hot, and it sounds like you might be over heating the coil which would cause a nasty burned taste.

I imagine you got 2 atties with your kit. Blow the 2nd one out and put one of the pre-filled carts on there. Wait a couple minutes for the liquid to wick up properly and vape away. Only hold the button down while you are taking a draw (3-5 seconds).

atties get hot - its normal - just keep em away from your skin.
Its normal to not like the prefilled carts that come with the kits - most of them are Dekang (cheap but some love it) - a good juice makes the experience 10 times better.
Take a breath though - its easy to get so frustrated when you dont 'get' soemthing htat everyone else seems to (easy to do as well) that you give up - haave a break if youre getting annoyed, then come back calm and read/ask whatever is still confusing you.
People have posted some good vids that may help ya.
Many people go through the 'newbie blues' this way, so dont feel like its 'only you'.

Yea, 10 drops is overkill. You mostly likely will need 4-6 drops. You don't want a puddle to form on top of the filler. If it does, take a paper towel and let it absorb any excess on the top.

Bad taste- It could be the juice or the atomizer is brand new and needs to be broken in more. I've had 2 atomizers that tasted funky until I used them a couple of times.

Battery - If the kit came with two, use the other one and see it's working better for you. Recharge the batteries until they are at complete charge.

Atomizer getting hot - My dad ask the same question, yes they are suppose to get hot. It's good and bad that they get so hot. Being hot mean they are vaporizing the liquid really fast and you'll get a better hit. Running cold and you should get a better taste depending on if the juice is good.

Gargling sound - Is a flooded atomizer, but won't do any harm. The sound will go away after a couple of draws. Using less liquid next time will get rid of this.

My 510 gets really hot while my 901 runs on the cooler side.

Just be patient, it's a huge learning curve, but there are plenty of people here willing to help you anyway they can.

Roll,

Man, smoke a cig and let it sit for awhile.

Gurgling with little vapor means something is flooded. If you have a mess on your hands, it might be juice in the mouthpiece. Blow out your cart from the same end you draw on it and see if any juice comes out in a fine spray.

Juice in your mouth can make ambrosia horrible tasting. I suggest bourbon to wash it out and more to make the throat warm. Heck, a good straight bourbon makes everything better.

Now, while drinking a nice cool adult beverage, clean your stuff. A cloth with rubbing alcohol is good. Don't smoke while doing this, it's bad mogo. Get those threads and exterior good.

Clean your hands off and read on here or watch some videos.

After relaxing and learning a bit, try again. You know it shouldn't be this difficult. Something is off kilter and a new viewpoint helps find that tiny thing that just isn't lining up.

Now ya got me wanting a M Mark on the rocks...

There is a learning curve to these things. Especially if you use non-prefilled carts.

Sounds like the atomizer is flooded.

What worked for me is to vape a bit on it with the empty cart then hold it upside down for a minute or so. Then vape again.

When I did this, the liquid would obviously get hot and when upside down, it would drain out of the atty mesh and back into the cart. This always clears my flooded attys. Once the liquid is cleared from the atty you should not get any gurgling when you drag on it and the taste should be restored.

My attys burn much hotter when they are flooded. I think it's because there isn't enough air flow through the vents to cool the atty while dragging on it.

Ok, have had some time to cool down a bit. :2cool: Thanks for all the tips, it's been helpful.

The bad battery is going to be replaced, talked with the vendor and they are sending a new one. According to the charger its fully charged, but am leaving it in there for a while just to check.

Think I got the taste thing figured out; it must be the stock flavor that comes with the cartridges; I opened a new one and didn't put any drops in at all and yea, it just tastes weird. I guess if I was to go from my usual Marb Menthol Light to something like a Winston or Pall Mall it would taste different; every cig has it's own distinct taste and I think that is what I am experiencing here.

Tried a few drops of the 25mg menthol, and I noticed a difference. Not much, and not very "mentholly" but I could tell.

Sooooo....I ordered a bunch of liquids, sort of a sampler pack I put together to find out what works for me. Oh, one last question:

These pre filled carts; they are obviously *some* flavor that I don't like although I don't know what it is called. Should I be getting some empty carts and just add my own liquid?

EDIT: This is what my kit says:

5 prefilled carts(Marlboro High)

What the heck is Marlboro High? Is that a grade, like marb regulars? Maybe I need to find a Marlboro Light?
