Haley, I smoked for 40 plus years a pack or more a day. Back in the drug and drinkin days it was probably 2 or 3 packs a day. I received my V2 last fri. morn. and havnt touched an anolog since. I tried everything patch, drugs and gum. longest I ever lasted was 3 mos..... buy light, Im assuming you went with 6 mgs. Just use your 15% off coupon and either get V2 e-juice your flavor and bump up to 12mgs or even 18 mgs if you feel comfortable with that. I jsut refilled some of my carts with Mt Baker cola at 80/20- 12 mgs and I really like it. Much smoother than the tobacco flavors. The reason it was so easy for me to switch was I vaped all day Fri. Sat morn with my coffee I decided to try an analog. It tasted like crap, 2 drags later the e-cig was back in my hand and havnt touched an anolog since.....

Wow ! All of your success's are really inspirational for me. I'm actually starting to get excited about this 'vapeing'
thing. I love that last post.......'just decided to switch brands'.....not quit smoking. Perfect. Thats the kind
of mind set I will use to do this. Part of me does like smoking but my intuition is telling me it is time to do this
NOW. The effects are becoming so much more noticable since I started peri-meno! LOL.....

I'll have to check out whatever Blu is, and also get some blank cartridges so I can try some juice. Wintergreen
sounds like a winner to me.

I spent an hour researching the effects of smoking and now I can no longer be in denial.

Love this site. Gonna go check it all out.
Thanks for all the help!

If I might throw in my two cents also.. 20 year smoker.. Got my first ecig last Friday.. Found this forum Saturday.. 6 days and I haven't touched an analog :) AND I have another smoker in the house.. I actually handed him my last pack and every lighter I could find in my purse/pockets etc.

I have my moments, but if you jump in with both feet I think you'll be surprised :)

Hey Haley! Like others have said, don't assume it will be hard. I was an accidental quitter. I bought a drug store ecig, with the vague thought that *maybe* I could cut down. I didn't have much hope, but there was some. I was amazed at how well it worked, even with the inferior ecig I was using. Started looking around for cheaper refills and got sucked into ecf, thankfully!

Although I wasn't planning on quitting it just happened. The first day I had a couple of cigarettes, the next day just one. Then about a week after starting I had one just to see if they really were as nasty as everyone on ecf was saying, and they were.

One thing I've seen recommended is to put your cigarettes out of sight. Not really hide them, so to say, but don't have them laying around in the usual places. Also, you can out your lighter somewhere inconvenient, away from the smokes. Leave your ecig in a convenient place or have it with you. That way it becomes more of a hassle to smoke and you might just decide that vaping is easier than fetching your cigs and lighter from different places.

It's hard to say what will work for a particular person and what won't. I like to fiddle and experiment, so trying all sorts of stuff and making my own juice was appealing to me and sort of occupied my mind instead of thinking about cigarettes.

Finding a good juice was essential and nobody can tell you what you will like, unfortunately. Finding the right nicotine strength is important too. It has to be strong enough to stave off the cravings, so while it's tempting to try to use as low a nic concentration as possible, most around here wouldn't recommend it. Find a concentration strong enough to give you enough nicotine, but not so strong that it makes you feel dizzy and nauseous. It may be 18 or even 24. You can always step down later.

Good luck!

I think it is still a mental issue. I have only been using e-cigs for about a week and a half. You just have to decide that you are picking up the electric and not the analog. For the first 4 of 5 days I was still wanting the real deal, especially when first waking up and after meals. I smoked then and used me e-cig every other time. Some may say do not pick up the paper cigs at all, but this worked for me. I now only use my e-cig. Sounds like you are off to a good start by having one that feels like smoking. The best thing for me was not to have the analogs lying around. I knew in my head if I really wanted one I could run down the street and get them, but only having my e-cig handy made it much easier. I smoked for 23 years and I understand how hard it is, especially the money you have wrapped up in your leftover packs, but that is a whole lot of smoking if you're planning on using them all while making the switch. I hate to say throw money in the trash, but you obviously know you have health issues and you don't want to give them away for someone else to screw themselves, so you may just have to toss them. If you feel you can't switch that fast, maybe use one pack during your transition. Cold turkey did not work for me either.

Thanks for all of the help and encouragement! I have to say I did alot better yesterday than today.
I woke up with a headache and a sore throat and automatically assumed in was from vaping.
I smoke alot in the mornings with my coffee and I did smoke the real cigs more than my e-cig today.
BUT, I placed an order with Mt Baker for lots of juices in different strenths and flavors and I bought a 'tank'
and I'm not even sure if I needed that! Really don't know what I'm doing but I know that smoking is killing me.
I think I already have COPD because of chronic bronchitis. Sucks.

I'll just keep trying what ya'll suggest and hopefully I get smoke free soon!

Thanks again!!!!

Texas Panhandle
It took we awhile to decide that I was going to do it, and at first I tried one of the truck stop versions, the Mystic. It was OK, wasn't great, but made me look for a better device. I was lucky enough to be in MN and visited the store in Anoka and was able to actually try out a few devices and juices. I bought an ego style kit and some strawberry frost juice and made the switch permanently that day. Since then I have bought more ego batts, a Lavatube, several tanks, many different styles of cartos, and various juices. It has really become a hobby for me, I spend time on this forum and visiting various suppliers websites, etc. I am always looking for brick and mortar stores because I really enjoying shopping in person (but only for PV items, no other shopping is enjoyable "my wife might see this and I don't want her to think I like the mall). The problem is being in the Texas panhandle there are no stores for me her in this region, but I travel extensively for work and try to visit any shops in the places I visit. The 1 thing I have seen in the various purchases I have made is a lack of consistent quality control. So there are times that a carto floods out in a tank as soon as I fill it, and another from the same supplier that came in the same box works like a champ. At first it makes you decide that certain items are junk and turn away from a whole supplier or type of device, when in fact it is usually a "bad" instance that is just the luck of the draw. Now to be clear there are some devices/accessories that are just no good, it happens, but it takes time to figure out exactly what works for you, since we are nothing if not unique! Anyway good luck, try a lot of different things, when playing with cartos/juice/attys, etc. it really is pretty cheap to get just a few for sampling.
