Just had a dry hit and now have a question

After experiencing the dry hit (due to having insufficient liquid in the tank) I left it for a few minutes (after replenishing the tank) then vaped again on the same setting and soon after I started getting that horrible dry hit taste, I own a smok alien version two and I've not changed anything in the sense of my vaping habits for example the length of time when it comes to drawing the vapour out, can anyone give me some pointers? I've checked my coil and it seems fine, but I'm concerned I'm going to get dry hits even with the tank full, I've even re-primed it to be safe and no luck.

Even though it might look OK, you might have still fried the coil.

I would. Once a coil is burnt it's toast.

Damn it, haven't got my spare coil on me, will have to use this one for the time being until I change it, I suppose I need to really keep an eye juice levels

In my experience once you fry a coil it is done for except in a rare instance where it is really just a minor burn and sometimes you can try cleaning the coil. If you can clean it the performance isn't great and will not last long.

I use an rda exclusively where it's easier to get a dry puff. Temp control basically eliminated the issue. And it takes only a couple of minutes to rewick an rda. I do that about every 2 days, 10 ml, to keep the throat hit and vapoer texture optimal.

You probably burned or scorched tge cotton. Change coil heads and clean the tank.
