Yeah when I tried super dense, where I had to twist it up tight to go through coils with some drag on it, no great wicking, don't know if was because I didn't straighten out the fibers or compressed it down so far that it got choked, but with like all fibers, once you got it down one doesn't forget. Now it seems to work it's magic on all my builds. Which is good since I have 8 oz's of Ramie.

Can't say if my pre-treat works or not, like you, it looked so clean and pure when first received that I didn't treat it, but after getting no Ramie Love on first attempts, I then pre-boiled, a foot or so, in a water/VG bath, and am using that for my builds. All I can say is it didn't hurt it. LOL. But when I use up that batch will try without boiling, now that I better understand Ramie.

Struggled with cotton when first attempted, hemp's learning curve was shorter, Ramie, well we fought for a bit, but worked it out in the end. lmao

I just noticed after I ordered that they also are able to sell the Ramie by itself by the oz, just in case you don't want to buy a whole 8oz package, although the Ramie by itself doesn't have free shipping, it's still a great price.

Yes and thank you. I was charged $5.11 for an ounce delivered via ground postage.

This vegetable fiber comes from the plant known as “china grass” or Rhea, technically Boehmeria nivea. The plant grows in China and the Far East. Ramie fibers come from the inner portions of the plants bark. In processing, the fibers are degummed, bleached and combed. Ramie fibers are the strongest of all vegetable fibers. They are typically spun for weaving table linens because they lack elasticity.

That was from Halcyon Yarn site, where Gonzi found it at 1 oz or more incriments. Good to know Guys, thanks for the contributions.

From what I can find in research it is in fact a natural degummed fiber straight off the plant like hemp. It is not made with a viscose process.

Though it is in the same class as rayon a cellulose based man made silk type fiber

All I see in small quantities is Ramie Top, not the de-gummed fiber, if you have a link to the de-gummed stuff, please post it

Umm, you might want to try reading the posts better and see that these are degummed Ramie fiber.

I've been following this thread for a couple of days and got hooked. So, I ordered an 8 oz. packet from The Woolery to try out. That is way more than I need. So if anyone is interested message me and I'll send you some for postage and a small fee. It should be about 4 or 5 bucks shipped. I can't wait for it to arrive, so I can give it a try.

I got my Ramie in the mail yesterday, woop woooo. I boiled up a bit but couldn't wait for it to dry. So I went ahead and wrapped a vertical coil in my KFL. It is really easy to do while this stuff is wet and it dried quickly when I did a dry burn. After vaping it for a few hours I must say, I'm impressed. This stuff is pretty much neutral as far as flavor and seems to wick just as well as hemp fiber. Now, I hope it will last for a week without a need to change it. That may be a little much to ask, but I can hope. Thanks for the thread Dice, good stuff.
