Thanks for the quick delivery! I ordered late Wednesday and my package arrived in Central FL today!

So a little backstory: I've smoked only clove cigarettes for the past 10 years. As most of you know, cloves are no longer available because of recent legislation.

I've never really liked regular cigarettes because of the flavor and I seem to cough more while exhaling them. Cloves on the other hand not only have a fabulous flavor, but I assume because of the numbing agents in the clove oil, it allows me to take deep drags with no cough.

With the standard carts that came with my 510, I've found that I can't really take deep hits without coughing. I do have a cold right now, so I'm sure that isn't helping any.

So finally to the question: I've read where lowering the nic level might help with the cough. On your website I read where all liquids are 24mg, and if this is the case, how would I go about reducing that so I can enjoy the exhale without the nasty cough?

Thanks for the great deal and fast shipping!

Welcome, GreyBlue!!

Drew does offer lower nic liquids. His HV line are all 12mg, and he offers "Lung juice" mostly 12mg also, which contain hebral extracts thought to help the lungs recover from cigarette smoking.

However, I don't think that lower nic necessarily means less cough. As you are used to the numbing from clove, that is the more likely explanation for
your coughing when you inhale - smoke OR vapor.

There are clove liquids available that you could use in your new 510.
(But give some thought to WHY the clove cigs were banned.)

I would deffinitely suggest the lung juices for you and maybe a menthol? It does give a cooling effect and maybe the licorice. I have an issue with the higher mg making me cough but not soo much with Drew's HV.
2 Things to note about..
1. You have a cold, so yes this could be affect of that. I got sick when I stopped smoking heavy and switched to the ecig, your prob gonna have lots of junk come up outta your lungs.
2. Some people do have a reaction to PG the cough and sore throat goes away after a few days and you will find you can inhale deeper.
I have a 510 it has a dryer vapor to me than the analogs..I was reccommended a kr808 because it draws more like analog and the vapor is (how do I say?) moister? and warmer. the 24 carts in those were way to strong for me, so I dripped a few drops on them with VG vegatble glycerin 100% kosher.. you can usually get from your local pharmacy a few drips of this on my carts or your 510 will help take the edge off.
After you absorb all the info and are less soo overwhelmed you may want to look into the Kr808 with Green cig carts, they are way more smoother, not soo hard on the throat and tons and tons of vapor! I drip Drew's juice right on these and its a 2 peice model.. IMO its easier to carry and 1 less part to worry about!
If you have any ?'s dont hesitate to ask everyone around here is Fabulous and you can PM me also if you like!

I smoked cigs for 17 years before switching completly to e-cigs. Honestly just take mouth puffs and you shouldent cough. No matter what really, if your taking the direct inhales you ARE going to cough when you get a lot of vapor. Thats just your lungs saying "HOLY SH** THAT'S A LOT GET OUT!!" Which happens with anything you inhale. I smoked cloves a couple of times, and honestly I thought I got a more burning sensation than cigs with them. Plus I didnt like the rice crispy sound effect when puffin them. Personally tho I kinda like taking direct puffs to the point where I cough sometimes, well alot of times actually lol gives the closest feeling in my lungs to the smoke I soooo love. The nicotene level in my personal opinion only really affects the throat hit, but not by much. Mostly decreases or increase harshness but the difference isnt really that noticible. But it is also gunna depend on how hot your atomizer is for that particular draw. So another thing I can suggest is let your atomizer cool between each puff and that well help ALOT ( and keep your atty lasting a LONG TIME, so far I have 1 that has lasted almost 5 weeks from that. My wife doesnt wait and goes through a atty every 2 weeks or so ) You CAN also cut with VG but really that can make you cough too because of the volumes of vapor that it produces. But it will ease some of the harshness.

Good luck and long live that 510 its GREAT!!!!

Hey Gray,
Welcome to the other side!!! It really looks like you got some greta advice here allready...I would just add to be patient with yourself and dont give up trying different ways to inhale and different levels and flavors...Also keep reading in here because your going to learn alot about the ecig here that will help you stay off the analogs...I do have clove flavors in the KR series and am working on developing a clove liquid , but it is a very hard flavor to synthesize...Be good to yourself and keep trying!!!! Thansk for your patronage and c dont ber afraid to pop in and ask questions...

The 510 is my favorite device, but it does have a kick. Take short easy slow draws and stop if you feel the atty getting warm.

For me, cutting with a little VG makes any liquid smoother. Though there's more visible vapor, it's not as harsh. I buy Wiltons at a craft shop. You will need add a few drops of water to keep it from being too thick. See the DIY section of the forum for some formulas.

Drew's 12mg HV liquids are perfect for a 510. Very smooth, especially the Orange Cremesicle, Banana Creme Surprise, and Raspberries + Creme. The Pralines and Creme is delicious but too strong for me for an all day vape. But I love mixing a little of it with tobacco flavors like the 555 - my all-time fav.

Most people new to vaping think they want something that tastes like their cig. After they try a few different flavors that quickly changes. You're not smoking a ciggie or a clove, you're vaping and it's different. And better!

After a few days or a week (and your cold is gone) you should be good to go.

Good luck!

I went through the flavors I got from Drew and I would honestly say Ry4 would be a great flavor if you want smoothness, mild flavor and NO coughing really. Even tho its 24MG honestly I can take full direct inhales and it doesnt make me cough at all, its THAT smooth. So maybe give that juice a shot, it should be right on the money for ya.

Thanks for all the advice and it's good to be on the other side!

I've taking slower drags and that seems to do the trick...that and doing the mouth puffs has really helped.

This thing is definitely taking some practice, but I'm liking it more and more. I don't even think I need to switch to a lower mg now that I'm getting the hang of it. =)

I actually got the ry4 with my purchase and I'm liking it so far...a nice sweet flavor kind of similar to a sweet clove, but lighter.

I can't wait to try out some other flavors.

Thanks again everyone!
