Hi everyone,

I am a newbie and started vaping 2 weeks or so ago and singed up here about that same time. My wife and I both have been regular analog smokers for 30 plus years and just decided to give this whole vaping thing a try.

I started with getting a KR808D-1 kit and some prefilled cartomizers in several flavors from V2Cigs and V4L and ranging in strength from 11mg - 24mg. So far I am doing pretty good as I am down from a pack and a half of analogs per day to about 4 per day.

I am having a couple of problems and need some help and suggestions but I think I should post those questions over in the "Ask the Veterans" section.

Thanks and glad to be here.

You need to get your post count up before you can post over there....and a lot of veterans check this new members thread all the time. You can ask your question here....probably someone can answer it quickly. Meanwhile, welcome to ECF and congratulations on starting your vaping journey. And that's great progress, by the way. You said your wife and you....do you both have KR808s?

I smoked for over 40 years. I've been vaping now since June 30th....and I'm loving it. I have been totally cigarette free for over 3 months now. These things really, really work. Amazing.

Wow thank you all for your replies and encouragement.

OK here are my story and questions and I will try to be as breif as I can.

My wife and I both smoke a generic (305's) ultra light cigarette. I go through about 1 1/2 packs a day where my wife smokes about 10 cigs a day.

About 3 weeks ago I bought two KR808D-1 kits and some V4L pre-filled flavor cartomizers. I also got some ejuice from freedomsmokeusa. The pre-filled cartos range from 11 to 18mg. The ejuices are 18 and 24mg and are a 50/50 PG/VG mix.

My issue is I am not getting any throat hit at all. The flavors are fine and the vapor is good but no TH for me. So I find myself occationally grabbing a analog to satisfy that part. A few days ago I graduated up to a Joye 510 kit. It definately gives more vapor but I am still not getting any TH.

I have read that it is the PG that gives the throat hit. Could it be that I need 100% PG? Do I need a higher nicotene level?

My wife on the other hand cannot use any of these because immediately on the first puff she says her throat starts to spasm and she starts coughing violently and cannot breath. I had one flavor in a pre-filled that was only a low 6mg but that one had the same effect too.

She has been dilegently trying to use this but her throat is dry and sore and it is not agreeing with her at all.

In her case could it be that she cannot tolerate PG and needs to try 100% VG?

Any suggestions you could give will be greatly appreciated.

I think you hit the nail on the head.

For you: I recommend the 24mg 100%PG juices (ps, for TH try a menthol:))
For her: I recommend the lower mg 100% VG juices, drinking a TON of water, and just taking it slow. She doesn't have to inhale to get the nicotine, only a small part of the nicotine is absorbed through the lungs, so even if she just puffs and blows out her nose she's getting nicotine. For her it just might take longer to get used to it, plus she might be having a reaction to the PG based on the tightness in her chest. The raw throat could be caused by a few things: quitting smoking alone does it, not drinking enough water, reaction to PG.

Good LUck!
