Can someone give me some tips/pics/whatevers on how to roll a nice round SS wick that won't kink on me?

The always end up flattening out and bending at sharp 90 degree angles through the wick slots. When I see pics of other people SS wicks they look really even and round, like 'real wick'

I'm having issues getting a nice wick going for a CE2 mod. And I have no idea what 'rolled on the bias' means so if that's your advice please explain :)

Cut your piece of mesh diagonally to the lines in the mesh.

When I ordered my mesh from McMasters, I got 85385T884 instead of 85385T883.

883 is a 325x325 with 0.0014" diameter, 0.0017" opening width, and 30.5% opening area..
884 is a 325x325 with 0.0011" diameter, 0.002" opening width, and 41.0% opening area..

think this will be OK? From what I've read, most people order 883.. :( Just curious if I need to re-order..

No, your cut piece will still be square or a rectangle. You are just cutting that square out of the sheet diagonally.

OK so I did this, and it worked much better

I noticed I can get a tighter wick if after I roll it 'straight' as tight as I can, I start to twist the wick in opposite directions (say left side clockwise right side counter clockwise). Are there any pros/cons to doing it this way versus the entire wick being rolled in one direction?

sorry for the noob questions, still learning and experimenting with this magic steel ;)

only vids i've seen were scubabatdans I believe, and I think he does NOT cut diagonal...but I'm probably wrong I have to rewatch...

poland, and the brassy lands of google
You ought to roll it straight and even, not twisting. Twisting invites it to kink. To tighten you get it to roll into itself by applying pressure between your fingers first in the center of the roll and then working your way outwards. Dan's done a lot of vids, and rolls mesh on the bias for U shaped wicks, but standard for straight ones.

Explained in a few words of wisdom and spoken from a true professional. I still prefer silica rope after all of this..... lol! Maybe I'm just dumb....
