I randomly entered a contest and found out I won the Wismec 100w TC mod. I think it's fairly new, not sure. My first subohm was that Kanger Subvod thing, battery broke and got a 40w TC istick literally two days ago. Been messing with it with the Kanger tank from the Subvod haven't tried TC yet tho.

So this the Wismec is coming in the mail and I know it has way more wattage than I currently need. Highest I can go with this tank is like 30 watts and even that's real hot. Is the higher wattages for RDAS and stuff? It also has TCR mode which I have no idea what it is. I've been trying to keep vaping cheap. But feel like I should prob get a new tank or start building or something. I was looking at that Uwell crown tank or maybe one of the horizon ones. reviews seem to be better than what I have. This toptank nano seems hit or miss.

Does anyone know of a 510 tip that doesn't get hot? I was thinking if I changed the tip for now it would help a bit. It may be a while before I can spend the money to use the new mod. I don't even have a battery for it lol.

Just because it can go 100 watts and TC mode doesn't mean you have to use it that way. Congrats and enjoy your winnings. Wismec makes great devices and you can use it the same as your current set-up, same tank, coil and same wattage just fine. Get a good 18650 battery or 2 (Samsung 25R or LG H2 are usually under $8) so you can use one while the other is charging, and a good charger ($10 to $20 for a decent 2 battery Nitecore or Eleaf charger). The Crown or the Herakles are good tanks as well as there a several others I sure will be recommended.

Is charging the batteries in the mod OK? I keep seeing conflicted answers. It seems ridiculous that they would put a passthrough and charging port on it but vaping and charging would be dangerous like I've read.

Personally, I would never even think to use the device to charge cells, you will have no clue as to the amp rate of charge or where it's stopping and with the external it's just very cheap insurance for sound peace of mind.
Pass through, @ 5.00$ a cell, I highly recommend you own more than one and not have to ever use that option

If that's the case, how is it then that it is fine doing it on a mod with a built in battery. It just doesn't make sense. What's so different about the batter being built in? Is it because the charging parts are made specifically for that battery?

I gave my shipping info yesterday afternoon and already received the mod. My Vapor Store has ridiculously fast shipping. I live close to where located but it still really fast.

I'm not saying you cant, people do it everyday but google mods venting, a vast majority of them are from charging, the smart ones have learned the hard way sometimes and wont even externally charge overnight while sleeping, this is what I mean by sound peace of mind.
I've traveled with and charged with two different types for years with absolutely 0 issues and I know exactly the charge and discharge of my cells and I sleep without any worry ............

You have to fully grasp Vaping styles to understand safety concerns.
Someone Tootle Vapes - Low wattage and almost no amp draw. Very little offset to charge circuit. No problem, use pass through.

Someone Chain Vapes at 75w on a single 18650 device. Battery almost drained. Plug in, and attempt to continue vaping through a 505mAh charge circuit. Things start overheating. Circuitry goes wonky from excessive heat. Switching (Charge to Use) Fails. Unit attempts to feed Coil Load from the charge circuit and POOF! Short/Smoke/Fire.

Pass through Vaping was designed back when we used 510 stick and Fixed Voltage EGO batteries. 5w-8w devices.
