Shayol Ghul, The Great Blight
I spent a pretty penny on my Cobra. I must say, that it was 100% worth the cost for me. I love it, and for some reason I swear it's the easiest genesis to use and setup i've ever tried, and it just seems to work better than my DID or my DID clone ever have. It may be in my head and I have no good explanation as to why this is so, but it was definitely worth it for me. Plus it is extremely high quality and looks beautiful, especially on my Provari with it's small dots. They really are worth it over a chinese clone, IMO.

That being said, the Chinese clones do have their place. I wanted to try a genesis ever since you had to buy a scubagen or similar and put it together yourself, and they were hard to find. I never would have spent over $100 just to TRY an atomizer, but after spending $25 on the first DID clone that came out, I knew it was more than worth it and time for me to step up to the big leagues. I've seen a lot of great trade opportunities on the classies for my Cobra, which after 2 seconds I always think "No frickin' way am I getting rid of this thing, what was I even THINKING?!?!".

So far, the verdict is that in my book you're just paying for a name and the exclusivity.

The Zen Mini Has Landed
Although I agree with you about the Zen's, I would really love an iHybrid. I won't be shelling out the money on one but I sure would love one.

I am hopeful that tomorrow afternoon, when it finally arrives, I'll like it as much as I think I will. That's exactly what I thought the day that the Zen arrived, actually. And, I'll be just as honest- for the versatility and additional features of the iHy, though, I'm willing to see a sacrifice in build quality- and IF I don't see a huge difference in build quality, and IF it works as well as it should, then the outcome of the review will be completely, entirely different.

I've had a few awesome mods over the years, but ever since a few years ago when the Xhaler came out- and was a big let-down for me- I see everything more for what it is rather than what it's "supposed" to be. It's a curse and a blessing, lol.

Safety is another consideration. Some will argue for or against the chinese knockoffs, and the types of metal used. In my opinion, I didn't get into this hobby because I wanted to trade one carcinogen for another. I have a cobra, 4 chids, 2 chobras, 2 scubgens, a pitgen, 2 dids, 3 gtank-us, and a temon. The ones I experiment with and don't care if I destroy, and almost never vape with are the chids and the chobras specifically because I know the metals in them are questionable, and will likely overtime leach something out of them and into my lungs. As far as the dids, cobra, pitgen, and gtankus, I know they are made out of the same high quality metals used in surgical implants, and nuclear power plants. A lot more expensive? You bet. Peace of mind is what I am looking for.

Hard shorts because you tightened down on a nut a little tight, and risking your battery exploding (thank you for the extra protection Provari) are another issue. My advice would be to spend the extra money and sleep better at night. As far as Zen products, never owned one, so I can't say one way or another. I think they look horrible on the Provari though, kind of like a white wall tires on a 4 wheel drive, just doesn't match.

I may be naive, but I don't worry much about the metals in the clones; any more than I've worried about using aluminum, cast iron, or teflon coated cookware in the past. Copper and brass have been used in potable water systems for many years. The heat generated by a coil in an atomizer never approaches the melting points of copper, brass, or chrome. I'm more concerned with the ingredients in some e-liquids, especially those containing diacetyl, than I am about metals in rebuildables.

Well much has to do with what is willing or able to spend.

After trying out a dud, I quickly decided that genesis atty tanks would be my device of choice going forward. I have a small warehouse of cartos, ce1-9's, dripping attys, etc. Because I generally change up flavors 3-5 times during the course of a day, one or two duds simply would not do. So do I order 5 duds for $100 and have them up and running in a couple of days? Or spend 5-10X as much for better quality? I decided my best course of action was to stay with the cheap, but well performing duds, and sit back and see what becomes available in a more thoughtful and relaxed manner.

Given the explosion of interest that the clone genny's have created, it'll be in short order that higher quality, attractive, alternatives will be available IMO.

Here's my 2 cents.........

I think most of these mods and attys are really overpriced. Don't forget that they are done by persons who don't have the volume to reduce the price point. So I do understand the high prices to a point.

I have never used a clone device so I can't attest to their performance, but I think that original is the way to go.

I would rather spend the extra money for an original DID or a Cobra than a CHUD/CHID/CHOBRA.

I have 2 original DID's and don't regret buying them 1 bit. I bought a mod recently that has a CHUD/CHID bundled with it, so I'll be trying a clone soon.

I think in the end, buying original is better. Yes, they are overpriced and yes they might not be "worth" it, but that just means that you don't go buck wild and end up buying everything under the sun.

I have right now:

2 DID
2 NGP attys
1 Bulli

Coming are

1 BLISS
1 VAPORWERKS

That should do me for a long time. I now have the exact same number of attys as I have mods and that was my goal. I like to rotate a lot of juices on a daily basis so I must have at least 3-4 attys loaded with different juices at all times.
