O.K now we have a good thread for recipes and chat!
What's for dinner at my house tomorrow..Spaghetti!
I make mine with hamburger and Italian sausage. I add green pepper, onion, mushrooms and fresh basil and oregano from my herb container garden. I use tomato sauce from a can because it's too darn hot to cook fresh tomatos!! We serve it with Itailan garlic bread and a side salad.

Seems I am talking to myself..at least we agree on most things!
Today being Mother's day, we are having a nice roast. Seared off and slow cooked. Maybe some baked potatos , green beans and rolls for the pan gravy. Mike can do most of that for me.
I will make a German Chocolate cake for Mom.
For later in the evening I think a nice dish of watermelon and cantalope.

I've still been playin' with my new rotisserie oven I got a few weeks ago. I cooked top sirloin steaks in the rotisserie.. and they turned out great! I made potato salad, and we had lettice salad with baby shrimp... AND chocolate cake for dessert :p

Going to cook a whole chicken for Mother's day.. and have leftover potato salad. I always love it so much better the 2nd day! ;)

Mixxy, I love potato salad. I make mine southern style with mayo, mustard, onion, celery and a boiled egg. How do you make yours?

Mine is pretty plain, because I'm not a big fan of mustard or the crunchy celery... but do love onions in it. Mine is just potato, onion, lots of chopped hard boiled eggs (about 1 egg for every potato), Watkins potato salad seasoning, black pepper and mayo. I sometimes add celery seed, because I do like the flavor of celery.

AH! Watkins!! I have my father's (yes, my father was the cook in the family) Watkins recipe book.....I can't remember the year it was published...but it has some great recipes. I remember using that cookbook to learn how to make brownies and they were awesome.
I've got it stowed away with the rest of his things but I'll get it out and post something from it.

As for Potato Salad....I make mine like yours MK, but I add diced Bread and Butter Pickles (and a little of the juice) and pimientos (sp) and black pepper. ymmmm:)

That's great that your father was the cook in your family! I have quite a few of the old Watkins cookbooks that I've collected from ebay. I've had a home business with Watkins for 11 years, but do most of it online since I have my dog grooming shop too. There is a recipe section on my Watkins web site Independent Watkins Associate | Karen Goodale that has a lot of newer recipes if you want to check them out! The recipe link is the last one on the left :)

Ahh Mixxy, I used to use the Watkins potato salad seasoning and loved it. I also liked their cucumber dip seasoning. Watkins is still big up here, lots of craft shows, county fairs etc have the Watkins salesperson in a booth. Good old fashion stuff! They have great spices too.

I didn't grow up with the products, but I found them at our state fair and after buying a lot of the products I would go back every summer to stock up. I love all of their products.. but especially the spices, seasonings extracts... yummy! :p
