K100 vs. K101

Hey guys, I have a VAMO but i want to get my feet wet with mechanicals. I am thinking to try an empire clone. I assume the only difference between these two are just the appearance. Which one do you guys prefer. I am torn between the two ( almost about to buy both )

I have a VAMO2 and a k100 and LOVE them both!
Didnt have the money for the empire and none of my devices have that connection so k100 won. LOL

K101 is kinda ugly.

I dont know what it is but im not a big fan of side button mechs. I might be missing something but bottom button mechs have a better flow to it.

I think you will enjoy your K100 . I have one , as well as a sigelei # 20 , 2 Vamo's , 3 Zmax's , A sigelei # 5 And I like them all . for various reasons . Congrats on your cheap purchase price .

Questions ... Can I use my unprotected Vamo batteries in it, or do I need "protected" ?
Do I need to buy a "kick" for protection ?
Can I use anything over 1.08 ohms on it ? Don't want to go "BOOM"
Anything else new I need to know .. it's my first " mechanical" device.

Also got the matching "dripper" (yes, I know how to re-wick)
Any info appreciated .......... thanks

1. unprotected; do you mean IMR?, then yes; in fact they are better(recommended) for LR and they are safe chem.
2. no... and if you want to try super low resistance, the kick is a non starter (10w limit)
3. super low resistance; get a multi meter (Ohms reader) and know how to make coils without shorts.

Sounds like I have everything I need for when it gets here.
Not concerned about trying to use super low ohms, but didn't want to use any too high... heard that's a no no
I'll stick to LR and I have a multi meter, plus a vamo I use to test with when I re-wick.
And yes, I meant IMR's ... I have those.

I have a Vamo now and was looking at getting a mec. Mod The GG clone and the K100 are the top runners at this point due to price point.
I do like the K100 and the fact that all you have to do is twist to get diff. size batt. to fit and the gg clone has a extra piece so I am leaning to go with the K100 now if I can only Find one in Black..

If you're going to run the K100 with a carto to use the decorative shield, I would recommend using Smoktech 1.7ohm cartos.. The LR Boges don't really do to well on it.. I would also recommend using a good battery if you're going to go any lower.. If you go with the full kit from Fasttech, it dies come with a fuse..
