Kaji's Ali'i (AH - LEE - EEE)

I checked the mail and found a USPS PRIORITY MAIL box from Kaji. I opened it up and, among generous amounts of packing popcorn, found two black velvety bags. I pulled each one out carefully and placed them to the side. I also noticed in the box 2 copies of a 2 page instruction sheet / manual. I carefully read each line of the note and then grabbed one black velvety bag, I untied the knot and inside was 1 Ali'i - Maple spine/top/bottom with Bubinga covers(sides), catch : SS wrapped in a jacket of bubble wrap which had taped to it a little ziploc bag that contains a Kaji-ized atty adapter and an extra rare earth magnet. I detached the taped bubble wrap and extras and placed them to the side. Alas the Ali'i in all of it's beauty...

So now I careful remove the Maple spine/top/bottom with Bubinga covers Ali'i and notice how visually appealing the combination is and with the Stainless Stell catch: Perfect. I did a good job of picking something from my usually unfaithful LCD screen. I proceed to open up the doors and check all the joints. I notice that it is very obvious to my eye that this was indeed made by a man and not a machine and relish the slight imperfections that brings to this device a rather unique charm. I notice that in the juice bottle compartment is a kaji-ized juice bottle with the teflon tube installed in it. I note and appreciate the rare earth magnets on the bottom and top of the juice bottle compartment. I then opened up the battery compartment and found a spare juice bottle for travel-this one doesn't have a hole drilled in the top or a tube...it's...well...for travel...this is to say one could bring another bottle full of juice for a long day or a different flavor....simply swap the tops and voilah...you're ready to go with another flavor!...nice touch.

The finish of the Ali'i is not that of a mass produced assembly line unit. Is this a bad thing...no. What I mean is it doesn't have the absolute symmetry that one would find in a computer generated and machined box....heck, this happens to be a positive for me-love how it came out and I know, as I stated before, I've got the only one like it of it's kind.

*WARNING: Shameless product placement*
I installed my already charged and waiting AW18650 battery, from Lighthound.com in and filled my juice bottle with Liquidxpress.com Honey Flue-cured Tobacco(my favorite for about 9 months).

To detach the bottle, there is a teflon tube that is inserted into a silicone hose from the bottle and extends down to the bottom of the bottle. To fill I just rock the bottle outward a bit and then twist off of the silicone hose. As the instructions say: "The bottle detaches by pulling out and down(the silicone hose flexes, so you should be able to tilt it out then pull down by holding the teflon bottle tube. There is a teflon tube that is inserted into the silicone hose from the bottle and extends down to the bottom of the bottle. To fill/refill your bottle and reassemble in the opposite order insuring the teflon tube is at the bottom of the bottle"

I slipped on a trusty 510 atty that was known good and tasting real good. I love how big the feed pin is in the Ali'i, it inserts right into the atty and this fills me with a bit of confidence as I know it will wash up onto the element and nourish it in the most positive way.

Okay, kill switch on(to the right), 6 ml juice bottle filled, battery installed, and now to pump. A little press and hold and I see the juice fill my stainless steel catch so then I release the bottle and all excess disappears back to the bottle. Now I hit the vape/power button and boy, what nice action it has with a bit of a pop feeling...nice tactile feel. Now, I vape...good flavor and amazing vape....mmmm.

Fast forward now, I've been vaping it all night...how has it been? It's been reliable, flavorful, powerful and I'm very pleased to announce....all this and it's beautiful to boot! Try as I may, I just couldn't flood it....I think I found what I've been looking for.

That's it for now....I'll continue adding to this impression as time goes by!!

Kaji/Ryan/Ryan's Dad, Thank you ever so much for your efforts....you really do have your hand on the pulse of the vape world...you hit a home run. Is it perfect? Nothing's perfect but this Ali'i is on the top of a short list of the best at this point in time....now if they ever take their design of the ali'i and metalize it....it could go to battle with it's owners...that's a thought but anyway...the Ali'i would serve any Vaper well and heck, it just may save your life in more ways than one, take it from a guy that has come close to dripping and crashing more than once...not anymore!

Shucks...All that and I haven't even got to the 2nd black velvety bag! Later...promise...don't want to get carpal tunnel syndrome!

Vape On

:vapor:

ADDENDUM:

Oh, can I tell you, it's a very viable alternative to dripping. I was a dripper but admit that I didn't like to do it...especially when driving. Kaji thought this mod out very well...it just works and works and works....the autofeed is amazing in it's implementation and it is so easy with no tedious learning curve.

There is a problem that I admit I have with this Ali'i and Journeyman, though.....

.....I CAN'T SEEM TO PUT IT DOWN!

I love it....however, you may want to lower your nic content!

LOL

Can I tell you...right now at this moment I am vaping some Honey Flue cured on my bubinga with maple spine/ends and I'm using my LR510 atty and I haven't dripped since I received the Ali'i / Journeyman...what a relief! The clouds of vape are everywhere and so thick that I have to wave away the clouds in order to see what I'm typing(lol).

"Is this Heaven?" You betcha it is! What's an Analog? Don't know - can't remember!

Paaaahhhhhteeeeee over at Kaji's!!

Did you get one, oh yeah me too!!
:toast:

After the mailman delivers it you wanna dance:

After you Vape it without having to drip and you see that catch fill and then the excess
get's sucked back into the bottle and you think, gosh that sure was easy and you come to
the realization that you'll never...ever...have to spill the sticky juice on you fingers due to the
fact that your eyes are shot and you can't get a drop in the hole, (breathe)...again!

After your 2nd or 3rd Kaji creation comes in you pahtee!

I've heard others say, "you'll have to pry my Ali'i from my cold and lifeless hands"
and now I join the choirs of praise.

If I ever see one in stock I'll buy it.

Juiceboxes take vaping to the next level.

Dripping and cartos are crap compared to a good JB.

MIke
If you are interested, you need to go to Kaji's website (Welcome to R&R Manufacturing - Handcrafted Battery Box Mods) on Friday night, at 8pm Eastern time, 5pm Pacific Time, precisely!

At that time, he opens up sales of the Ali'i and Journeyman. He takes about as many orders as he can produce in two weeks (it takes them about two weeks to complete an order)

The last two weeks that they took orders, it lasted between 12-15 minutes, until orders were closed!

Go to the site in advance, pick out what wood, drip cup (stainless steel or brass), vv or standard, etc. you want.

Then, Friday night go to the site and at 5pm, hit refresh, until the "Out of Stock" message changes to "Order"...

Good luck! It's worth the hassle!

Ryan was sick with the flu for five days.

He did post on Friday, Oct. 22 that he wouldn't be taking orders, as he was sick and unable to complete the orders he already had recieved. (You can check this thread....

http://www.e-cigarette-forum.com/fo...r-manufacturing-custom-ordering-now-open.html

...this Friday, but I'm sure he'll be opening sales as he didn't last week.)

Ryan always checks in on the thread I linked to above, on Fridays right before 5pm PST, and let's everyone know if he'll be taking orders, and any updates.

Hey Shel, is this like the REO's where he pre-builds and puts them up and you grab whatevers avail or if it says in stock do you just buld your own?

So I just hit refresh till it says in stock and then build one? And do you know what the one in the middle is with the black inlays? Maple w/African?

Not like the REO, as they are not pre-built.

You'll get to choose whichever wood selection you'd lke for the spine/top and bottom, and another wood selection for the door panels.

Last week, he said he was unable to get Ebony, so that selection was unavailable. When ebony IS available, it is only available for the spine and top/bottom, you can't order the door panels in ebony, but you can choose any other wood selection. I have NO idea if he's now got ebony back in stock (that's what I ordered, Ebony top/bottom and Brazillian Cherry doors!)

The Ali'i in the center is the Maple with Ebony spine, top and bottom. Nice!

Ebony, when available, is an additional $10.

You'll also need to select what metal you want your drip or catch cup in (Brass or Stainless Steel), and if you want variable voltage (+$35) or not.

Just go to his site, and choose your wood combo (I'd suggest knowing what you'll choose, if Ebony is again not available, just in case), then, Friday night, RIGHT AT 8pm Eastern time, go to his site and just hit "Refresh" button, and eventually, "Out of Stock" will change to "Purchase" or "Buy", click on the Buy button, and you can go ahead and order.

He builds each one only AFTER they've been ordered, so it's built to suit, as opposed to REO's which are built, then you choose what's available.

Takes two to three weeks after you've ordered to receive it, but you do get exactly the model you want!

between here and there
I have one on order and can't wait to get mine......Thanks for the pics. I picked all cherry. Suggestion. Pre-register on their site so that all your info is there, look at all the options and pre-decide what you want, then follow the suggestions that Shel gave you. You can get in and order real quick by having all of you decisions made before Fridays.
Happy vaping

Hey wv
Not sure if photos of my Ali'i will help, or make the wait that much more difficult, but here's a photo of MY Ali'i, which I received a couple of days ago. It's with Ebony spine top/bottom and Brazillian Cherry. :p

Lovin it! Great, warm vap, and consistant! I've been dripping on an eGo, with a low res atty for about a month, waiting for the Ali'i (first waiting for Friday to arrive, so that I could order it, then waiting for it to arrive!)...and the eGo would be hit or miss.

If I over dripped the eGo, I'd get almost NO vap until I worked my way through the flood. Other times, the battery would get low and I'd get weak drags. Once in a while, I'd get a PERFECT drag on the eGo... but not that often.

With the Ali'i.. and the 18650 batteries, it is very strong vap, and very consistant!

You'll love it when it arrives!

One thing I'd add is the pure ergonomic genius of this mod.

It fits perfectly in your hand, and the button placement, the feed cutout and atty are just so well thought out. I feel like I'm pulling the trigger on a gun every time I hit that button. And to feed the mod is also just a matter of moving my finger a bit lower and a press - I never even have to change my grip on this thing. I am a big fan of elegant design and Ryan and his dad are truly masters.

On a side note, I ordered a REO Grande this past weekend and I'll be putting up an in depth comparison once I receive it, pretty psyched to have 2 such well regarded mods.
