Just what I'm looking for as well....beefy components and the wooden box is just earthy man,earthy!

Can blistered/curly/flame maple be used?

I also am curious about olive, pink ivory, cocobolo, or East Indian Rosewood. Possibly Butternut. Would these woods be viable candidates? I even have some blocks I could supply if the materials were not readily available in your locale.

I think the true rosewoods like the coco and the EIR would age wonderfully well given the way that hand oils slicker them up so lovely..

'Nuf questions...beautiful boxes!

Why..in the name of all thats decent and/or holy are you PAINTING THEM?!?!

I've gotta ditto or +1 that comment. Wood must breathe, lol!

At the most, stain! Reading the review I couldn't help but also think, why would anyone paint over such choice hardwoods? To each their own, but I think some slick stains would be a better choice if someone just had to have a colored box. Don't hide that grain!!!

In the land of no hills and red dirt
Okay, Kaji sent a prototype red box to appease Mindy while I put his review unit through its paces. I swapped them out this morning; hopefully I'll be able to make a clean getaway before she wakes up. (It's her week off.)

This is a small, attractive little 3.7v wooden box that came with a native 510 connection and a LR 510 atty. Again, the only qualm I had about it was the tiny little (3ml?) juice bottle, same size as on the mr puffer.

The unit delivers a nice dense, amount of warm vapor with good taste and decent TH. It's not quite a fog machine like some other mods I've tried, but its perfectly adequate.

Not that much of a learning curve. Haven't accidentally flooded it yet, and you instinctively know when to hit the plunger as the vape tastes a little burnt and metallic. It's pretty darned close to the gg afsv2 in it's 'hit the button, get a vape' quality.

So far, I'm using one of my favorite PG mixes, kona coffee. This is welcome news for PG fans, as some of the other 3rd gen mods demand at least a little vg to be satisfying.

Holy crap, that LR 510 atty gets hot after a couple of long puffs! The nice thing is the 'french kissing a tailpipe' sensation should keep you from popping it.

And an interesting thought came to mind about how a design's features can be construed as either a strength or a liability based upon the needs and preferences of the user. Initially, I pooh-poohed the small size of the juice bottle. Then I realized this mod can give a satisfying vape, but help those of us who are hitting the ejuice just a little too hard:

1. The LR atty will limit how many puffs you can take in a row, and discourage mindless chain vaping;

2. The smallish bottles will make it easy to monitor and/or limit juice usage for a day, and;

3. The 18650 battery should deliver enough performance for all day vaping, but not be enough for extended chain vaping.

Throw this sucker in your pocket along with a tiny spare bottle and you'll have a nifty little mod that will prevent you from chain vaping.

Kaji's going with me to work today. We'll see how it does out of the house in the real world.

Was vaping on my Kaji when the spousal unit comes by and starts quizzing me about it.

Mindy is so hard to please about vaping. I'm a vape ....., she's the dominatrix, and can spot any shortcoming in a mod in 30 seconds. She likes the dse905 but hates filling carts and dripping, passes on the 510 mod, and finds fault with every 3rd gen that I've ever tried. Which is danged near all of them so far. The closest she's come to being satisfied is her pink 901 mr puffer (referred to in the Anderson household and in NW OKC as the 'Mindy Puffer'), and she even finds fault with the detachable juice tube, limited capacity of the 14500 battery and position of the firing switch. (I won't say what she's opined on the other mods because it will make Carlos, Reo, Petercro and Imeo cry.)

She takes the Kaji, carefully looks it over, and her eyes widen as she takes a puff with the 510LR atty. "Ooh..." she says, "I think I like this one best of all!" and walks across the house with it, singing 'Mama's Got a Squeeze Box' as she exits.

"Hey", I yell after her, "I'm supposed to be doing a review about that mod!" Neither slowing or stopping, she turns and waves as she walks away singing. "One of us is going to have do an extended use review about that!" "I'll tell you in a month what I think about it.", she replies as she shuts the bedroom door behind her.

Wow. I've used a mod for less than five minutes, got vapejacked (by the police, nonetheless), and still may have to give Kaji the Nobel Prize for Vaping Design. :ohmy:

I laughed pretty hard after reading that! I think Mindy and I would get along pretty well :D

All right, all right, time for a quick check in.

I've given the Kaji short shrift so far, I admit it. It's partially due to lessened leisure time, the fact that I've got a house full of cool vaping mods, and an issue that I had with the mod.

To me it started getting a really harsh taste that discouraged me from trying it very much. I was talking with a friend of mine, ecf's Sterno, and mentioned it. Sterno, who is a Reo fanatic, passed on some advice he received from Redeyedancer. Red suggested he put a drop or two on the LR510 atty when it started getting harsh for the first week or so, sort of a break in period.

The technique appears to be working for me. It's about time to take the Kaji out into the real world and leave the gg's in a drawer.

Mindy's still holding onto hers tightly, so that's good.

I'm a little confused Clyde. You started talking about the Kaji and then when on a called it the REO. Which one are you taking out in the real world?

The Kaji. My friend, who is a reo fanatic, passed on the advice about the 510 LR atty. Oh crap, I see what you mean now! Prior post edited, thanks.

Very nice looking wooden box MOD. Kaji's boxes look a little smaller and lighter than the REO... is that right? But they both take 18650 batts. What about dropper bottle sizes?

Kaji -18650 batt - 3ml bottle - 510connector
REO - 18650 batt - 6ml bottle - 801connector, 510 and 901 adapters

Is that right?

Yep. The Kaji also uses an copper pipe to put juice directly into the bottom of the atty directly.
