Has anyone tried messing with the new Kanger coils yet?

The stem is super tight. I can get the old ones off with my bare hands. PBusardo dismantles one in his review of the new aerotanks, and had trouble as well. Tried using pliers and ended up ripping the stem out of the part it is connected to. Along with crushing it.

Got some extra coils coming this week and going to be a bit more gentle and maybe rock it more. But have a feeling that kanger did this on purpose possibly to make it near impossible to rebuild, and making us buy them. Maybe not.

Also, I have been reading people are using the old coils in the mini / mega and claim they are compatible. They work, but they are not long enough to make a seal on the center tube. So as soon as your tank goes to the side, or upside down juice will fall into the mouthpiece stem or coil stem. Although I am sure the old coils can easily be modded by stacking some type of seal.

But I am interested in the new coils. Has anyone rebuild one yet? Any tips on getting that stem out?

Thanks!

Same here. I did try rocking it and the stem just ripped out. Maybe they saw Phil's video and started gluing them together.

Anyway, I replaced with a old style dual coil (open wicks ends, not encased in a tube) in my mini and the fit is fine. I'm using the same liquid and I'm getting more vapor and a little less flavor. I'm hoping the flavor gets better as the wicks break in.

Ahh...the old dual coils from protank 3, etc. That must be what people are referring to. Will grab a pack of those. Want to try a microcoil + cotton just for kicks. Thanks.

If anyone has any luck or tricks on the new coils, please post. Was thinking of trying to make a tool that you can slip into the stem and leverage it from inside.

You could probably take a finish nail to slip into the stem. I just tried with my micro screwdriver set and the 2.4mm easily fits in loose but the 3mm is just a hair to big. I'd say the inner diameter of a Kanger coil chimney is around 2.8 mm.

When I eventually pick up a Aero Mega, I plan to just use the older style dual coils. I made a two part blog tutorial on how I rebuild them. Click on the blue "2" next to blog entries under my avatar if you are interested. I think it will just be too much of a PITA to try rebuilding the new style when the older style is so easy and it fits.

You can still buy the older style coils though. Some places are now labeling them as v1 and the newer ones as v2. I am going to get some more while they are still around.

I definitely think the newer dual coils are not lasting as long as the older dual coils. I have blown through a bunch of them already but I think I should be able to rebuild them after looking at how some other people were able to re-insert the chimney successfully.
