Annoying: I get very little airflow with my Protank 2 on my Provari. The 3 holes around the base are placed a little lower than on the base of my PT1 so I have to unscrew the tank quite a lot in order to get acceptable airflow. And if I screw it the way I did with my PT1, I actually get ZERO airflow...

I fixed this by swapping the bases, but I don't know what I will do with the second one I ordered if has the same issue. No more spare PT1...

Exact same problem here. When using a 50/50 juice with the ProTank 2 attached properly to my ProVari I get very little air flow with almost zero vapor production. The good news is that the ProTank 1 bases work great and allow for normal air flow. When using a 70/30 juice the ProTank 2 bases seem to work adequate with a pretty tight draw. After using the ProTank for several months I was beginning to like the airy draw it produces. I am going to order a few ProTank 1 bases; I just hope these are in fact for the ProTank 1.

Sounds like a plan for me as well. I really love the Protank V2. But the draw on the Provari is a heart breaker lol. Modded it to make it work decent enough, but I would prefer the un-modded look. Nice and flush.

Everywhere I check is either sold out of the ProTank 1 base or asking 5 bucks each. Would be nice if we could get a few people together to do a bulk order from KangerTech. If you order 50 or more they are .65 each plus a minimum shipping charge of $28 :-( which would bring them to $1.21 each. I could definitely use 5 of them; heck I would take 10 just so that I have them on hand if ever needed. I just emailed them to find out if they are selling the new base or if they are the ProTank 1 base.

And China does seem to somehow have a problem with Lead in products they export....

you ca still order the protank original bases. id be happy to provide a link, but it seems every single time i link to a dealer/supplier, i get my rear chewed by staff and it ends up getting removed. they are readly available. if you cant find one in france, let me know. i hav a fist full and will send you one for the price of shipping

what i would like to know is if the protank II is truely STAINLESS STEEL. have one on order so im sure ill find out regardless in the near future, BUT im sort of gunshy on alot of this stuff anymore as theres so much stuff out there thats marketed by dealers as "stainless steel" and it ends up being chrome washed brass (im alergic to brass, makes me blister). i went and ordered a bunch of the orignal protanks and then purely by accident found out they were chrome washed brass.

if they are actual stainless steel, id pay TWICE the price their asking for them. if im not mistake they are advertised as stainless by Kangertech, but so was the protank.

id als like to see a larger kit maybe come from them with a protank II tank and all of the stuff it comes wth now, but also maye an extra base and an extra pyrex tank.

i got my protank II today. very nice unit, except I think its like the protank, chrome washed brass rather than actual stainless im thinking

the base on the 1 and the 2 are vitually identical in thickness, hole placement, ect. only difference is the length of the 510 connector on the bottom is just a hair longer. i dont see where they say that the base is stronger, as like i said, to me it looks identical in every way except for the male 510 length. the holes in the protank base are also a hair smaller than on the orginal protank base.

plus, it was advertised as having 2 drip tips, a metal one and a plastic one. mine came only with the metal one (silver anodized aluminum, jerked it off and put a stainless tip on)

it was also advertised as having the beauty ring for ego style batteries, which it did not.

ill tell you what, these dealers need to get with these friggin manufactures and get this stuf straight. im tired of every single thing i order comes back and falsely advertised and BS.

overall, after changing the drip tip to an actual STAINLESS one, and getting over the fact it didnt come with the stuff it was advertised as to have, im very happy with it SOFAR..... i am going to go out in awhile and take my dremel and a polishing bit and polish a little in an unseen area and see about the material make on the thing...will report back later today if i can get to it.

went out and checked the protank II right after posting....just as i suspected, the protank II is NOT STAINLESS, it is as the protank, chrome washed BRASS

why is it that these dumbasses cant get it straight?

im sorry, but i get so friggin tired of all the bull when it comes to this stuff. when did BRASS become IRON or STANLESS STEEL?

heres the skinny on brass

Question: What Is Brass?
Brass is a common useful metal. Here's a look at what brass is made of and information about its chemistry.
Answer: Brass is an alloy made primarily of copper and zinc. The proportions of the copper and zinc are varied to yield many different kinds of brass. Basic modern brass is 67% copper and 33% zinc.

Lead commonly is added to brass at a concentration of around 2%
. The lead addition improves the machinability of brass. However, significant lead leaching often occurs, even in brass that contains a relatively low overall concentration of lead.
Brass Properties

bright gold appearance
higher malleability than bronze or zinc
acoustic properties appropriate for use in musical instruments
low friction
soft - may be used where low chance of sparking is necessary
relatively low melting point
easy to cast
not ferromagnetic (which makes it easier to separate from other metals for recycling)....MEANING THERE IS NO IRON IN THEM.

if anyones planning on getting one of these on the premis that they are stainless, dont bother......

also, being as it says lead leaches out, were not only being lied to but were getting LEAD POISONING in the process

just for grins, i sent kangertech this email a few minutes ago to see what their reply will be

"
good day to you

I have a question....

I have ordered both the protank and the protank II. in your advertisements for these, both say they are made of “iron”

what kind of iron is it they are made from? stainless? chrome plated steel?
curious about the metal composition....."

soon as i get a response i will post it here in this thread. even overseas im sure they are awae of the differences in actual iron, steel, stainless steel and brass

Copy/paste from another thread I posted in about Provari tight-draw issues.

Quick update. After all the mods I made to the Protank V2 base (filed air channels, drilled out air holes above threads), I still had a tight, unpleasant draw on the Provari all the way tightened down. I changed the head I had installed (the only one I had tried and used since getting the tank), and now it hits like a dream all the way tightened. Could have been a replacement head QC issue after all. Silly me. I can honestly say with this thing hitting like it is now on the Provari, it is the best vaping I have had throughout my vaping "career".

Someone looked up "metal" in a chinese-to-english dictionary, and came up with "iron".
Asking them to specify should (hopefully) get a more accurate description - but from all accounts, it's chromed brass.
I haven't had the chrome wear off yet, so I'm not worried about lead leaching - but they certainly shouldn't be calling it Stainless Steel if it isn't.

i did also notice that the draw with the included burners was very tight, but i use an evic with a air flow regulator on it. just for chits and grins today i took one of my bases out and drilled 3 more holes in the base and now it hits like a dream. not as airy as the original protank, but not as tight as a vivi. right in between.

IDK personally. i know that i ordered mine and it was advertised as stainless, and it was supposed to include 2 drip tips ( a steel one and a plastic one) and a beauty ring for ego bateries, and all it came with is two coils and the tank with an anodized aluminum drip tip.

this is the email i got back from kanger on the subject

"John
inside is cooper and outside chrome plated steel

hopefully any dealers who read this will update their product descriptions. id hate to see someone get sued for false advertisement because their discription of the product is knowingly inaccurate and someone have some problem with it...

i emailed Kanger back and told them that alot of dealers advertise the protank and protank II as stainless and that they should make the dealers/distributors aware that it is in fact not stainless or iron, but in fact chrome washed brass....this is the response i got last night:

"Hi John
okay got you, they may didn't ask, we will write on our website about this, thanks for the information.

hopefully they will stand to what they say and actually list that it is brass and not stainless....

in few days we will start open pre-order
3. how about a protank II XL that holds a larger amount of juice? or maybe even a larger replacement pyrex tank?
