Kanger Protank and eVic burning taste?

Just got my eVic in the mail and a Kanger Protank. Filled the tank up 3/4 with a 50/50 blend. Took a couple hits and it taste AWESOME. Couple hits later, it started to get a burning taste and I've been adjusting voltage/wattage constantly looking for that great taste again and i cant get it. It's a 2.5 ohm atty and I've found 5.2W to be the best, hardly a burning taste but still doesn't have that initial flavor.....Need help!

I may have to try that out, started experiencing the same thing. I have my initial 1.8 ohm coils and the first one lasted almost 3 weeks. Switched out a new and that burned out in 4 days. The current one i'm using is already getting that burn taste. I've favored the vision spinner setting at 3.8 with 1.8 coil (use the starter battery when that one runs out) and now I'm thinking I need to up the ohm to a 2.2 or 2.5. Didn't think that taking a flavor wick out would make a difference? My thought process says taking a wick out would reduce the vape. I like long draws and full flavor.

compleet,i use the protank and the 2s and i also get that burnt taste every now and then. what i do is take a short draw or two to get the juice back up the wick and to the coil, and sometimes i think the coil just acts up a little???, i am still using the original coil and have had it for about a month or so . i dry burn just about every refill, and put a drop of juice on the coil when i'm done,i fill up,clean up and by than its ready to go! and if your not having any leaking i don't believe a person needs to worry about the flavor wick, experiment with that for the flavor, i use 1 or both ,with no leaking issues. this is all just my opinion and i'm sticking to it! good luck and vape on!

Welcome to ECF, the evic recommended watt is a bug. You can put any coil and it will say 5.2.....even my dual coil carto says same. I run it at almost 10 watts.

Have you tried varriable wattage? I can run my pt2 at like 6.2 watts with a 2.0 ohm coil and 50/50 juice no wick removed. The pt2 is a great tank, but for chain vaping you need pace your self.

I think pt2 book says 2.5 ohm is 3.8 to 4.1 volts.

Also check evic section I posted some stuff on the Custom modes.

Ummm......yea........let me know how that all works out for ya!

First off - 5.2 watt recommended is NOT A BUG!. It has NOTHING to do with operation and is an ON BOOT message from Joyetech. It is a physical number that is known to be in the safe Vaping range at all resistance levels.

Removing Flavor wicks for a 50/50 blend is highly unlikely. Yes, for 100% VG some have to to get wicking to stay constant, but 50/50 is fairly normal.
Constantly changing wattage will keep you chasing flavor and Constancy. You need to find a comfort zone and stay in that range while the wicks break in and settle.
With the flavors I vape My eVics are generally between 6.8-7.2 watts.
Any higher and the flavors taste a bit burnt or kind of over heated. (Typically Fruits/desserts)
Much lower and the coil/wick starts to get loaded up. Flavor starts to mute, get muddled, and eventually taste nasty. This is gunk building on the wicks.
NOTE: A power increase can/will clear this up, however you will vape through a bit of Nasty taste as it does.

As to that initial Flavor, you may never get the initial intensity and impact back. That Was Taste bud reaction and as they become familiar with a flavor they settle down. Look up Vapors tongue.

I suggest you spend a little time getting used to the eVic and its workings. Keep the power in a tighter range and allow everything to smooth out. Get comfortable with the protank and find your rhythm.

If Flavor seems nice, but suddenly you get a sort of dry hit - DO NOT ADJUST - Instead, take a few un-powered draws to re-prime the wick. try it again.
As long as initial draws are Good, you are in a decent range. Good Wicking can take 1/2 tank or more before a consistent flow is achieved as the wicks slowly become properly saturated.
Draws should be in the 4-8 second range and no Chain Vaping on a Fresh/New wick/coil.

I use eVics and Kanger BCC tanks 18-20 hrs a day. They do work and work well.

I agree with above post. One thing that can help while the wick breaks in is cover 1-2 of the air holes. I use clear fast dry nail polish. It tightens the draw but with pulls taking more pressure helps pull more juice on the wick. I often chain vape and don't have much patience with break in time so this helps. You will still have to do primer puffs but this will make it easier. Once its broke in You can just push a small paper clip through the holes if you want a loose air flow. Don't remove the extra wicks till you've given it 1-2 tanks of vaping and even then remove only one then wait another tank or 2 before deciding to remove more. If you remove to many for your pg/vg ratio it will leak.

If you're using clearos and getting a burnt taste it means that not enough juice is getting to the coil and you're basically vaping dry, hot air or inhaling smoke from the gunk that's burning off of your coil. Not a good thing. Another case of bad taste maybe the tank itself--some arrive covered with some kind of nasty grease; wash them with soap and water (just the tanks--soak the coils in PGA or vodka).

There are a few things you need to remember when using a T3 or an eVod or a ProTank--in addition to keeping your coils clean and free of gunk that accumulates on them.

1) Make sure that the atomizer coil is screwed into the base tightly--every time you refill; they often come not fully tightened from the manufacturer, or may have gotten loose through repeated refills.

2) Look at all the inner seals and gaskets to make sure they haven't become dislodged.

3) Make sure that you screw the tank into its base tightly. If it's not tight, it will leak.

4) When you screw your clearomizer into your battery, do not overtighten--screw it in only until it makes contact--no farther, or you may push the center post in too deep and cause all kinds of problems, including leaking. When the draw becomes tight or the taste and vapor production begin to diminish, replace the coil. This will happen sooner (even as soon as one day of heavy use) if you're using dark, viscous, or very sweet juices. The old coil can be cleaned and dry burned.

5) Make sure you're not getting any juice in the center tube when you're filling--this will cause your eVod to leak like a sieve. If some juice gets into the tube, close the top cap, place a tissue under your tank and blow gently through the clearomizer to get rid of any excess eliquid. Also, extra condensation inside the tank may, on some occasions, drip back into the center tube. Wipe your mouthpiece dry with a q-tip or a tissue when you refill (or more often when/if needed).

6) Take an occasional "primer puff" (a slow draw without activating the battery) when you vape. It helps move the juice into the coil chamber and removes any air bubbles that sometimes form in the tank and may cause gurgling or impede proper wicking.

7) Take slow long draws rather than sharp and quick ones like we used to do while smoking cigarettes. Do not over vape, chain vape, power vape. Let the juice travel to the coil between drags.

and last but not least

8) Do not remove any flavor wicks if you're experiencing any leaking or flooding. Those wicks are there for a reason. If you feel that you have to remove a wick because your eliquid is particularly thick, do it carefully--one strand at a time.

Kanger actually recommends 5.5-7.5 watts--per Kanger recommendations:

"Recommended Voltage for varying resistance levels:

1.7-1.9ohm - 3.1-3.4V
2.1-2.3ohm - 3.5.3.8V
2.4-2.6ohm - 3.9-4.2V
2.6-3.0ohm - 4.3-4.7V

*The above recommendations are merely a guideline. Personal preference as well as specific set ups, hardware, liquids, etc. can have an effect on the proper Voltage to use."

Good luck and happy vaping
