Protank definitely has its weaknesses ..... The 510 connector has snapped off 1 of my bases, and I've broken the glass by fumble finger dropping onto a cement floor. But I've replaced both as I enjoy the draw, flavor, and clouds of smoke compared to any other atomizer. The flavor is much better if heads are rebuilt with cotton wick.

Ok I put the boot back on and did nothing else and now it's blowing clouds... Which is great I've only had it a day and maybe it wasn't primed or something (I'm still on the first tank full) but now it has a really funny taste not burnt but I can't put my finger on what it is.

Next time when you fill a brand new clearomizer/tank BEFORE you use fill it up with distilled water, cap mouthpiece and bottom with fingers SHAKE IT and pour it out.

Distilled water is 88 cents a gallon and its a great medium to rinse out a lot of things...clearos/tanks/syringes/ new glass bottles for eliquid storage or nic storage

Walmart here sells it for 88 cents...

Welcome to ECF, btw
:)

If you can't get an answer to a problem you may have feel free to pm me. I'll help if I'm able to.

Ok so my protank tastes way better after cleaning but it's not producing the amount of smoke it should and the ohms are good. Could it be the connection to the pv or my vamo itself?

If you're getting an ohm reading on your vamo, the connection is there. But the vamo still may not be applying power, only way to tell is try another atomizer ensuring it works right (or a meter of course). Are you filling the juice too high? .... may be getting a vapor lock if too much juice is used, when held upright the juice in a full tank should be below the top chrome rim.

What voltage are you running it at? With my 2.6ohm protank heads I run it at 4.2-4.5v otherwise the vapor production is mediocre

In regards to your initial question, there is no problem with setting the Protank down horizontally. I haven't experienced any leaking at all and mine sits like that regularly.

As for the cotton wick mentioned above, it's a great and easy option, even on the stock Kanger head. The cotton works as an excellent wicking material and the draw isn't too airy at all.

Thank you light seeker. I took it apart again changed the coil and poured out some juice and now it's hitting like a champ.

I had problems with my Protank after my first cleaning. Changing the coil did the trick. I suspect the wick never really dried out properly, because the Protank kept flooding. Same with the Evod. I have to figure out a way to thoroughly dry the wick/coil before re-assembling these.

I go by the ProTank chart for suggested volts. Using the the formula of Volts x Volts divided by Ohms = Watts will give you the sweet spot. For example I am running a 1.8 head and ProTank suggests 3.1 to 3.4 volts, so 3.2 x 3.2 dived by 1.8 ohms = 5.6888 watts (If you are using the 2.5 ohms head just apply the same formula for Ohms Law). Some juices I run at 5.0 watts, some at 5.5 watts, and some at 6.0-6.5 watts max. Running at any higher wattage gave me more vapor and heat (which I didn't need), but the burnt taste was not worth it. If you are using a VV only PV, I suggest using the appropriate voltage (see ProTanks chart) depending on what ohms head you are using. Your heads will last longer and the taste will come out more, unless you are after a hotter vape which BCC's aren't designed for. IMHO.

What aussiedog said. Deleted my post above, bad application of ohms law. Note to self ... Don't make posts while enjoying bottle of wine:blush:

That made me laugh, I am in the same boat right now. Cheers!

P.S. I lived in Houston for a while and really miss the Craw fish at Blue Water Cafe, yum.

bump... got a kanger protank a week ago. got used to the draw , love the flavor. but it only works on ONE of my TWO ego batteries. on the ego it doesnt work on (950mah ego c), i normally have an evod atty on there and always works. i also have a vivi nova and they all work, just not the protank .

been messing a little with a screw driver trying to get the bottom post to extend more on the protank. is this an atty or my ego problem? or both? assuming its the threading on the battery since the protank is working on my other ego (a 1100mah ego c twist).
