I've gotta dozen or so, with both wife and I using. Cant see how I would need anymore.... Besides, the next latest and greatest thing is right around the corner. Actually already is.... I'm using a rsst & dripper about as much as the protank :)

I'm thinking about getting that rsst. I heard it's good for beginners. I already have a sheet of mesh from eBay.

Think its a natural progression.... for me it was anyway. Vivas shown me how to rebuild coils, then perfected it on the protanks. With DIY, needed a way to sample, so a rda was perfect, and I make the RDA coils almost exactly like a protank. Then I liked the flavor & plumes from the dripper, but not the dripping inconvenience, so got the rsst :)

The protank is not out of rotation though, its my go-to when driving, out & about, or work. Never leaks!

So I picked up a brown Kanger Protank on Firday morning. Took me a couple of days, but I can say now that I really like it with the menthol flavor I am using. Much cooler than the Vivi Nova tank.

Then, I tried the cheescloth wick trick as posted in another thread.

WOW!!!!

With the original wick, I was running the ego-t on the unregulated mode. Now, with the cheesecloth wick, the regualted mode is as strong as the unregulated mode was and the flavor is even stronger!

Yep. Made no difference. It's not a big deal to me. I don't mind suffering through a few burnt hits.

Have you tried twisting the legs to reduce their resistance? People have said that it keeps them from burning the insulator, and my 30 gauge coil with twisted legs worked fine.

Great thread!! thanks and kudo's to all that posted info.. I am getting ready to rebuild my protanks, evods, and vivi nova's. tired of spending money on new coils.. I need to order wick and wire and ohm reader..

Best place and price for ohm readers??

I learned alot from this thread, one of the most informative threads I have read..

Thanks again all..

Not yet. I'll give it a whirl (pun intended) on my next rebuild.

Do you twist the legs prior to wrapping the wick or after?

I looked around for ohm readers... Roughly 10 bucks before shipping, then a moment of brilliance came to me and said with the 10 dollars for an ohm reader I could just add 27.00 and get both in the iTaste SVD... from FT :toast:

How in the heck do you replace the cotton while it's in the head? I'm sticking with and having good results with SS for the low maintenance and longevity. But boy is it a pita when there's a hotspot or short in that itty bitty space

I use a 1/16th drill bit. I do 10 wraps touching on it, then I put the coil with the drill bit still inside mind you in the slot of the evod head and install as normal. Then I take a small pinch of cotton from a qtip and roll it in my fingers. Then I guide the cotton through the coil. Then I take a bigger pinch and use it as the flavor wick. When the cotton isn't good anymore I just slide it out and replace. Easy peasy.
