I rebuilt the coil in my Pro tank to break the DIY ice, maybe get a better vape, and for the fun of it. However, my tank now seems to get hot. I didn't have any replacement wick so I used 100% cotton gauze, and I had some 30awg nichrome laying around from an archery project. Anyway, my Vamo should be here tomorrow so I can check the ohms on it. I went ahead and ordered some silica wick and a bit of the kanthal to play with. I'll report back if I find anything interesting. Thanks for the info!

I use a 1/16th drill bit. I do 10 wraps touching on it, then I put the coil with the drill bit still inside mind you in the slot of the evod head and install as normal. Then I take a small pinch of cotton from a qtip and roll it in my fingers. Then I guide the cotton through the coil. Then I take a bigger pinch and use it as the flavor wick. When the cotton isn't good anymore I just slide it out and replace. Easy peasy.

I found that the coils that I make in the Evod with 32 Kanthal last for a long time, I just pull out
the old cotton and dry burn clean, insert new cotton wick!
I've only recoiled when I was bored and felt the coil wasn't perfect.

32ga at 3/4 wrap will get you at 1.5-1.7ohm consistently.

Ah! Of course... I'm used to having that SS wick in there. Wasn't thinking. And mount with drill bit inside. Micro on a protank/evod. It burns.... slip it out, new one in... Hmmm.... might have to give this a try!! thanks!!!

I have been vaping about 6 months now and am about to start rebuilding. I love to have a strong throat hit. So do I need ohms to be higher or lower? I am currently waiting for wicks and wire to come in the mail. Tips for rebuilding perfectly everytime?

You need more wattage and more juice supply. That can be accomplished with a higher or lower ohm coil depending on your device. As for the last question ... practice!

I've built over 10 coils over the past 3 days. All of them except 2 have been getting a burnt rubber taste? Anybody know what it is or if i should just give up

The only thing I can think of is if the coils are too close together. I've had to adjust them before when I got that taste.

You are either getting hot legs or overheating the grommet, or both. Do you notice scorch marks or melted parts where the coil legs go into the grommet?

I have a Kamry K200 with 3.0-6.0v in .1 incroments and 5-15w built in ohms meter with recommended volts for ohms level so I am pretty sure I have the wattage I need and I have a pretty good supply of liquids

Maybe I misread what you wrote. Did you say you were looking for a stronger (throat) hit via rebuilding? Basically to do that you will want to increase the wattage handling of your head. Generally this is done by increasing the wick size and wrapping with a larger gauge wire. The actual resistance may or may not be important depending on how far you want to go and the capabilities of your device.

Yes that is right, I should be getting 32g Kenthal and 3mm silica wick in the mail tomorrow is that good for what I am looking for? I read something about the number of times I wrap the wire will affect the throat hit? Frankly I am very confused on it all, but I guess that isnt unusual being brand new to rebuilds.
