Kanger Protank Recoil

Sorry, this maybe a noob post

I just recoil my kanger protank.
I understand that the positive and negative part of the wire is a crucial part of the process - one under one inside the rubber cap.

My question is what about the coil itself ? (the part where is coiled up around the wick). if this coil touches the side / etc .. would this cause a short ?

one would think so, i noticed with my mesh rewick on one of the spare heads i have played with the positive leg was getting hot from the coil to where it went through the insulator

if it touches on the side that goes to the center pin.
it will burn the wire in half.
only happened once to me.
